Interesting....we got hit by a similar tornado, it may have been a hurricane though because there was also water and laundry detergent all down the highway. Quite an unfortunate event, possibly could have minimized damages if someone had secured the soap properly....

All of the above with the addition of baby powder that someone got caught with and wasn't supposed to have it.

The one you had was probably on the DI 5 scale. LOL

Lol our baby powder guy had it poured all over him and then he had to haunt the guide by following him around the squadbay saying whoooo I'm a ghost because you failed me

Lol, I wish they would have done that to ours. At least that way we could have laughed a bit while cleaning up the mess.

My DIs loved indirectly picking on the guide like that. We had a bed wetter that got caught and they made him lay on the guide's bed and make pissing sounds

Are the 'Tornados' current? If so, it is surprising with the kinder, gentler society that we live in. No swearing, no thumping, no hurting feelings... Politically correctness run amok. Then after 12 weeks in paradise, we send our pampered troops to combat. Too bad the enemy doesn't play by our same rules. We would be using squirt guns and water balloons.

This is probably the only thing allowed as it is only a huge mess, at the same time maybe this activity is under "no hurt feelings" category. I graduated in June of 79, I would not have a bearing of what goes on now days.

Seems though some form of bends and thrusts are still permitted... LOL

I graduated in 2003 so there were definitely "kinder, gentler" rules in effect like no swearing and hands off but DIs still got their message across just fine. I started to see some rules coming down by the end though. I was in Hotel and we saw Mike and up using backpacks instead of war belts, with pockets on the sides for canteens and everything. Rumors started circulating about stress cards too but I don't know at which point that actually went into effect

I went to SD, I think you did also, but I could be wrong. If you did, does "Mount Motherfucker" ring a bell? I heard a rumor that it was done away with. :D

I know of it but we did not hump it in boot. The reaper was the big challenge at the end of field week but they stopped doing the EGA ceremony up there because they moved rifle and field to phase 2. We just got to take a breather up top before humping back to the squadbay to shower and then hit the chow hall for warriors breakfast. After that we pack up and go back to MCRD for phase 3 which was mostly final drill and knowledge

Hell some of the things I remember, was digging graves for sand fleas, thump-call, Suzy Rotten-Crotch, Eating Duck, Running all our PT (PFT included) in boots (tennis shoes were not standard issue, yet), navigating pungi sticks and trip wires as training,..... I was born in Parris Island.
All Marines will know what that means, others will only wonder.

You sir are truly hardcore. :)

I endure the shame of a Hollywood.. LOL

Just combat boots.

I do recall Tornadoes - not the squad bay type, Snacks (eating letters from home), Squad bay Rifle range, Bowling Pins (thumpings) as the standard stuff. Few other medieval things were reserved for those, you know, were sensitive.. LOL. A lot of this stuff I have forgotten.. It's good to think about it again. :)

I went in 99 n then in 07 for a refresher course u could def. tell a big difference from 99 being cussed at put down making u feel so small trying to break u lol shit I even got a small hair line crack rib by getting kick lol just cuz I wrapped my whole self in the sleeping bag in my hole At FTX when the Drill sergeants threw about 4 or 5 GAS canisters at our patrol base cuz we was on 50 percent security some damn private lol was on guard behind his PIG (M60) (basically a 240b for the younger kids ). Anyways he was behind it in a prone n he was knocked out lol there was so much drool over his buttstock he could have filled a lake lol

The Drill as he kicked me was perry what the fuck u doing
I told him trying to keep the gas out so I can sleep drill sergeant.
Lmfao I woke up when they popped the gas cans all around us. I just thought ah shit here we go again n just went back to sleep.
The only reason the drill sergeant knew I was still in my bag sleeping was cuz of the damn snoring lol

I went back in army again in 07 as a grunt again. But I was prior service so only had to do a refresher course couple weeks but they wasn't allowed to do a big hurricane in the bay or nothing. I seen this one new drill sergeant do it to his platoon and he got his ass rimmed by 1sg n the CO n they made him apologize to his platoon cuz of it. The army has gotten so so soft over the years.
