I was contacted by the marketing team at Aeria games to see if our community would be interested in setting up a Guild within Echo of Soul. If anyone is interested, please let me know. If we do get a guild setup, I have been promised some in game freebies for you all.

Downloading it and figured could be a f2p game we could get into. Some of the guys from Lineage 2 (a game I was heavily into) created this game. Plus the world seems crazy open.

The game seems ok. Kind of generic but could be fun if they fixed a few things. Characters are limited starting area is very over crowded but that happens. The main thing I didn't like was the controls. They are a little awkward to me.

The one thing that worries me was I got a virus warning as soon as I tried to download it and then my protection kept me from run the software because something was detected wrong with the game launcher.

Review of Echo of Souls by Loukious

I played Lvls 1-6 on my character so this is not a complete review but of what I saw in the time I played

So I had watched the reveal trailers of this game and got excited when I realized some of the minds behind Lineage 2 were involved in this game. A game I loved. So I downloaded the game through Aeria. Now I know the game is only in Beta so I’m willing to overlook certain issues. First I had to restart the launcher 3 times to download the game after the install. First time I got stuck at 27%. The next was 49%. The last time was at 95%. Each time I’d restart the launcher it’d get further along and then lockup. Ok hey that happens your game is in Beta, the launcher is connecting to a central server that is getting influxed with thousands of people. So finally I can start. I’m not a big cut scene guy in MMO’s so I skipped past the opening cut scene, which then caused my game to crash. I restarted and jumped back in. I went Rogue Duelist. A burst type dual sword user. Now here is a complaint. Why not more options in character creation….Warrior and Rogue are male only characters while the Archer, Sorceress and Guardian are female. Now I’m not saying the character creation is not deep. You have the typical set your height, hair style, facial style and even eye style. But to close off characters from being either sex seems shortsightedness. I’d like being a male bard, be fun to quote lines from A Bards Tale during a dungeon.

So ok I jump past character creation and into the game. Now here’s where the game falls short. The learning curve is steep, you jump in with 4 skills already to go. I had no idea what any of them did. It wasn’t until AFTER lvl 4 I realized one of my skills did a DOT poison and that one of my new skills would “Detonate” all the remaining damage at once. Also the camera seems to want to take on an odd angle that I’m constantly trying to fight against to keep enemies in my line of sight. The graphics seem nice but due to the starting area being overrun and the armor that every character picks up though the low level quests is the same I had once or twice I mistook another character for my own and realized a creep I needed was killed so I had to go running off to another creep. Another complaint is the lack of being able to strafe. Many times when I play MMO’s I use my Q and E keys to strafe around an enemy. Not having those keys was tough, I’d be fighting and would be holding down said keys to move around and instead I stood there.

Now am I saying this game is bad? No. But when you place it against games like WoW, Wildstar, SWTOR and even ESO it’s going to have a hard time keeping up unless it finds a way to stand out from the crowd. So far I haven’t seen anything that will keep me playing. I love MMO’s and giving a new game a try but so far EoS hasn’t made me want to stay.

Now I didn’t have it happen but it happened to two others. They both had security issues crop up that forced the game closed. One of my friends had it happen during install, the other as she was playing the game. Now not sure if this is a Beta issue or an issue with the game where there is a problem but hopefully it’s something easily cleared up.

I want this game to do well but with what I’ve seen I’m not sure how well it can make a dent in the saturated market of MMO’s

Ok, my download wasn't to bad, I played to lvl 6 and the game play itself wasn't bad but really generic so hard to want to stay when it's just another want to be WoW, Elder Scrolls, and SWROT. I was disappointed when my security closed the program and gave me an error. I am not fully impressed just yet.

One positive I did like the countdown on the spell it helps with rotation timing.
