NASA's latest endeavor to educate people on space exploration has taken them to the world of video games.
The space agency has released a new PC video game available through Valve Software's Steam service called Moonbase Alpha.
The game, which features single-player and multiplayer components, places players inside an astronaut suit, as they must rebuild a lunar base crippled by a meteor strike.
To complete the objectives leading to the revival of the base, players will use a variety of tools include mobile robotic repair units and a lunar rover.
Moonbase Alpha is part of NASA's Learning Technologies project, which aims to educate students using interactive methods such as video games and virtual worlds. The project is also working on a second online game called Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond.
Readers, what do you think of the NASA game?

I would D-L it and give it a shot, but the requirements is 2 gigs of space, and recommended 5. Seems like a long and grueling down load to me. the specs seem to check out though. looks like it COULD be fun, but why would I want to play a game where I gotta work? (Farmville)

He's still downloading it. LOL
you can do exciting things like:
Eating soup from a tube!
Reparing the Life support system!
Checking your suit for leaks!
Avoid decompression and your eyeballs poping out!
Hide in the "safe room" from solar storms!
with many more fun and exciting tasks planned for DLC!

Glitchy. I wouldn't recommend it, but that's just my opinion.

I got it last night, it is mediocre. I think if we got a group in there it would be more entertaining. At least we could talk instead of just spending two hours trying to fix shit alone.

Yes it is multiplayer, hence the reason I said "If we got a group in there..."
