Should be the new jasper chipset. which "supposedly" is lot better. but still too new to tell really.
Whats sad is that if your xbox breaks down and you send it in. they replace the motherboard, so even though you buy a jasper chipset, if something goes wrong, and you send it in, you might have one of the older RROD prone motherboards when you get it back.

Hmm...no thanks. I'd rather save the money and buy another PS3, if I had to.

I am in the same boat as you river rat. I don't think I will ever get an XBloX!
Ive been a xbox fan boy since the original. Although with the new PS3 slim it might be time to convert.
In regards to the RROD problem, I still have my first release 360 no probs. what so ever, you just need to take good are of it.

I had the original Xbox and I Loved it.. I also had the original PS and PS2. I am just a Fan of Sony. I think that the PS3 is realistically the best system out there and the fact that it is a Blu-ray player is why it is top f my list.

I got two emails from gamestop with codes that are good for free ground shipping (i think that's the 5-7 day shipping option) and 10% off any internet order. It's a decent deal, almost makes it worth having to contribute to the evil GameStop corporation, only problem is i don't see myself buying anything else for a little while (I already have GoW III and FFXIII on preorder, i think i'm set for a bit) So if anyone is interested, i have two promo codes up for grabs

The 10% counteracts CA sales tax but the delivery is a dealbreaker if Amazon offers release date delivery as usual.
addition 50% on games you sell to them. my MW2 went from 29.75 to 44.62 if i sell it to them.

the daily deal today is 20% off any in-stock PS3 games, just enter the coupon code 20PS3 at checkout. They say it's limited to the first 2,000 customers but that's probably just to boost sales.

as you can see, it is "hot games UP TO 50% off" which translates to "select titles on sale, some as much as 50% off" but as to which games, who knows but half off is always nice :mrgreen:

The deal at the bottom of the page for GOW 3 turned out to be just what I was looking for. I can turn in my COD4 and God of War Collection (which were both gifts) only wind up paying about $20 for GOW3. :mrgreen:

I'm not terribly impressed with the new gamestop rewards program.
they give you 10 points on the dollar for new products and 20 points on the dollar for used products. the cheapest reward you can get that has any good use is a 4pack of Interstate AA or AAA batteries, going for 1250 points. so that's $125 spent to earn some cheap batteries. or you can score a $5 off any used game coupon for 4000 points, sweet right? /sarcasm
it's cool they are trying to give you something for your business but i think they need to step down the prices a bit to make it worth while for the average consumer

I guess that's probably so they can have some incentive to reduce their used inventory.

they make more on used games than they do new.
And it's really not that bad, as it's largely the same as before, and a little bit better in some regards. Plus you can get more than a couple bucks off a game now.

as spyder said, they do make more off used games than off new. When they get the games from the game companies they are paying whatever the cost of the game is and whatever they charge on top is their profit, say many 10% or so. whereas if you bring in a game to trade they give you maybe $25 for a newly released game and they put it back on the shelf for $56.99, scoring them quite the profit of 50% or more. So of course they want you to buy used as much as possible because they make much more money that way.
