Mostly everyone is PVE I think, although I haven't played it for a while. However, you can change it back and forth anyway so doesn't really matter what you choose. PVP means Player vs Player and therefore other players can attack you whilst you roam around and complete missions. As you can see this is a hinderance when you are trying to get things done. So PVE is best to start with.
If I remember rightly you have to go to phase shifter to switch back and forth if you do want to change. It is located in the main hub somewhere...look online for directions cos it took me ages to find it and I can't remember where it was now lol.

Yeah I'm only a level 6 hero for the same reason. I got bored playing through it on my own and when I joined people they always seem to be on harder missions that I couldn't join in with :(

I got 2 lvl 5 Characters. I am willing to upgrade to the premium pack and we can start our own legion. Then we can do everything with just us. Maybe recruit a few more if we need it.

Not a problem. You get them, from running duos’ and doing dailies or should I say... you get the marks to buy them from doing that. But to get enough of them, you need to do the dailies first. So you can buy some Faction Armor which will be your starter set. So that, when you do run duos’ you don’t get stomped badly. Faction Armor can be found in the Watch Tower. You buy it from the venders in the Meta, Tech, Magic wings. The Faction Armor, is the price listed plus one mark of triumph if you run all of the dailies (barring the "caging the penguin quest", which you'll need at least 2 pieces of T1 to run that one) you will easily have enough.
You can find the dailies in the Watch Tower. The kiosks in each of the wings and the Monitor Womb, have the dailies you'll need in order to get those marks of triumph... to buy your first set of Faction Armor. I'm sure you're going to ask, "can I buy any Faction Armor" the answer is yes. So long as you have a neutral standing, with that faction you want to buy from... at this point you should, so no worries there. Once you have a full set of Faction Armor, then you can start running duos’'... to get more marks to buy pieces of your T1 armor set. As for Green Lantern armor...no they don't. But I've seen many people with Green Lantern esque armor, they buy from the T1 vendors/ Faction Armor vendors then change the color scheme to suit their needs. Hope that helps.

I am raiding. And doing the daily Alert and Duo to get MoD. Have another 2 Raids tomorrow and already have 61 MoT. Don't want to spend them yet, until after the raid. Trying to get my CR to 53, so I can do FOS1-3. I have 1 piece of T2, 2 Pieces of T1.5 and 2(would be 3, but replaced it with T1.5) Pieces of T1. This game is my crack! Have not touched BF3 since I started playing this.

I bought Legend status for 1 month. I would start a League but I do not know if it will delete after my subscription starts.

So if we get enough people, I would be willing to pay for a year I dont want to be the leader though, I am balancing kids, gaming and semi pro football this time of year. I am now level 24 and I think I finally need to join a group to do tasks. I do like the bonuses for doing things alone though.

DCUO has three option that you can play: Legendary, Premium, or Free (http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/free/).
So I feel like I have just skimmed the surface of this game. I basically take and keep only my current items in use and upgrade when it is better numbers wise. I also am finding side quests I missed at lower levels. I would like to get with some members online I saw someone on my DCUO friends list come up but they were gone before I could invite them. You might find that you did not build your character the best way possible for what you are trying to do. These resources will help you if you want to respec. You will not need to buy any equipment until Level 30 (Waste of money). Find out what type of character you want to be and see if you can find information on it.
I will be respecing my character soon to get the most out of my character. I made minor mistakes in my skills try that are a waste. Luckily it is only $500 to respec. I have been studying a lot about the game and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you are looking to get the most out of your character, I would highly recommend studying a guide on the specific load-out you are looking for. After doing some research I found out that I was nerfing my own character by not knowing my character style (Luckily you can respec). As you know rolls are very important in this game and having a character that fits that roll is even more important. If you are running around with a tank/healer, you are not doing your roll.
If you would like some assistance with your character build I know the directions you should go. If you would like to do the research yourself that is good too. I will add a few sources at the bottom that you can look at:

You have to start putting stats into other fighting styles to boots your innate stats. If you are a techie you need to figure out what type of controller you want to be. Are you Gadgets or Mental?

I found the information. You can switch your stance by pressing up on the D-pad. After that you pick what stance you want to be in. With this being said, I found out something very interesting. I did not know that depending on what stance you are in is how your skills will work. If I am in the controller stance my skills will work on the group. If I enter Damage stance they work as DPS. This is interesting information and will help me a lot in group instances. If you do not know this information and would like me to shine more light on it, feel free to ask.

The hot key to talk to people is the right D-pad. You have to press that to talk. However, you can go into your options to take it off (Will constantly be on).

The first thing you need to figure out is what type of Controller that you would like to be. Please choose from the list below and I will be able to assist you better.
Blue Battery - Only worry about power to the team, they work on all gear for the highest Vit possible to be the best power givers in the game. They may not do much damage, but they can supply a whole raid by themselves.
PI Troller - Power Interaction Controller, are mostly a backup troller to a party with a controller (see blue battery), they primarily work with Ice and Fire DPS and Tanks to give them a boost by adding interactions that will help the team.
Gadget DPS - For a Gadgets DPS there is two ways to play DPS. Slow build up or Burst damage, each have advantages and issues for your toon and your team. Build to slow and the team gets nothing from it or kills the targets before you can get your full powers off. Burst damage can use to much power at one time and be left with nothing to save them and then become a liability to the team as they are now in the bottom 3 in power and take power away from healers. But when you get them to work correctly its the end all be all in DPS (IMO), we can burst onto a group and destroy them or build up to an attack and destroy a boss in seconds.
CC Troller - Slightly different then a PI troller. They use Intimidation with pistols, or encase with Stasis Field to slow down targets or to save downed players. We are the generals of the battlefield, we save anyone, we can protect the healers, we can save our tank with encasements to slow down NPC's. This is the hardest level of being a controller.
Stealth Gadgets - Stealth can be used in both stances and can be a huge benefit to players on PvP servers. Many players will use stealth on PvP to level up and stay hidden from those lurking around to pick on your new toon.

I like the Gadget dps, but it seems a fine line where you could be a hindrance to a team if you screw up. I know I am a in the fight kinda guy. See I have only done everything alone so far so this is definitely new ground. I still dont even know what DPS is hahaha

DPS = Damage Per Second
This means you would be the damage dealer of the group. The tank would take the damage from a mob and you would deal the damage to the mob. If you have played other MMORPG it is the same roll as a Rogue.
see in the past I was the brawler or brunt of the damage giving and taking mainly keeping the focus on me as the magic or archer personnel fought from afar

That would be a tank roll and you are not set up for that with gadgets.
Should I start over or redo my class somehow or pick the gadgets dps and change my strategy. your guy is so short next to mine too. lol

Honestly, if you want to be strictly DPS I would go with Hard Light or Mental. Hard Light over Mental. I wouldn't even mess with a Gadget DPS because that is not what Controllers roll was made for. DPS is DPS and Controllers are Controllers. Tell me what you want to do and I will tell you what you need to do :).
I am the shortest you can be in the game. My internet must have been jacked up last night because I didn't see you at all last night. I know I was near your dot on the map inside the Watchtower, but I did not see your character. When did you see me? Were you fighting next to me? What happened :)?

I finally found you fighting some greed demons. you died and then shortly thereafter logged off. I was never in the watch tower. They need an option to transport to group when joining. So when you invite someone they can option to automatically physically group as well. My connection has been slower at my girlfriends too. She only gets 5-7 I am going to hard wire it tonight for better connection. The appliances between rooms drops me to 85% connection from the start.

I finally found you fighting some greed demons. you died and then shortly thereafter logged off. I was never in the watch tower. They need an option to transport to group when joining. So when you invite someone they can option to automatically physically group as well. My connection has been slower at my girlfriends too. She only gets 5-7 I am going to hard wire it tonight for better connection. The appliances between rooms drops me to 85% connection from the start.

Yeah, anything goes before level 30. However, once you hit end game groups are going to require you to perform your roll. This is all something you can mess around with and switch to at level 30.
Also, how do you have group boosts on and be have good DPS. These are two different stances and don't work well with each other. Are you in Controller stance with decent DPS or in Combat stance with decent Control?

I have been reading over some gadget information and everything is stating sentries are a waste of skills. You can place points into other skills to make it better for yourself.
I have seen my sentries kill enemies quickly after I hit them one time. like those demons last night. I did the lantern fight and they saved me last night. I like the taser pull and the defibrillator there are other powers too. I mainly use my martial arts though when in the thick of it.
I can assist you if you would like. All I need is your Power, Movement mode, and what role you are looking to do (Tank, Controller, or Healer). After I know this information I can shop you the tree to max your innate stats.

Hmmm, do both members have to phase on each other? I did not phase. That might be the reason I could not see you? However, if you phased on to my server we should both be able to see each other. WTF FML LOL BRB TTYL!

Recruitment is a CLAN EVENT. The green team and if asked the Council will put together some recruitment threads and discuss where they should be posted. I do not have to sit here and outline my job and the jobs of other teams here. I would hope that you respect what I have asked and just chill and enjoy the clan and respect our wishes. Sending out recruitment threads to everywhere you see fit will cause complete chaos with the systems we have in place. Now I will be locking this thread as there will be no bumping of threads by Steel or anyone. This isnt a child scenario where dad says no and so you go to mom. We have measures and systems in place for a reason. Respect that please.
I tried to help 31 last night with this but it glitched out. Everytime we got to the point of beating the joker... it would just reset. it was stuck in a perp loop lol.
He just beat the joker when I got on, we did beat the riddler quest and some other joker missions. He got to level 21 and I went up one to 25. We did find some of those new exobytes. It was so fun to play with someone we taught each other a few things. I was stuck on the riddler and we both needed it so hoorah : )

bad info from a kid online then, I was happy to find out from 31 last night that my stupid helmet can be changed to look like any I had on in the past.
Stay away from this loser, Burrows Gray. I carried him through the instance at carmine's lighthouse(duo), got my armor kicked to crap because of him not doing anything to help period. Then when I told him to leave(just before we were going to face bane), because he was so useless... he refused then went on a rant how I sucked because he was a controller and controllers are awesome. In the end, it was a total waste of a run. Due to the fact, that this tool shed didn't have his faction armor yet... and he was trying to do it at my expense. What a douche!!!

I'm almost done, 2 away from a complete set of T1. I'll have my belt today, after that my cape then I can competently run some raids with you. Ok well it looks like the consensus is that since we only have about 5 members playing this title that it doesnt warrant a recruitment campaign. But that doesnt mean that in the future, if more members get involved, that this can't happen.
The thing is Recon, that your the only one with Legendary status, so you would have to run the League. A League that would consist of 4-5 guys. I, for example, have put DCUO on the shelf for now so I'm out. Most of us are spending lots of time recruiting and verifying new applicants for MW3 and BF3 at the moment. Sorry bro, but thats the feeling thus far. I, and the Council, appreciate you using the proper channels to get this noticed and taken care of. And like I said, just because not many people are interested now doesnt mean that wont change. Hope you understand.

I got 4 levels since Monday and am now 30, I see its a whole new world. I am trying to finish my low level missions before beginning the mark ones. Is the T1 armour the stuff you get from steel and robin, etc?

CR 43, role- trying to gear for more effective Dps role. Just did a re-spec on him today, into martial arts and dual wielding def is at 1600+ now... but might is at 1063. Before re-spec, he was in one handed and hand blasters... def was 1536 might was 1295+.

If you are planning on going DPS, I would say go range attack. When you are in raids you can not be up close with the mobs. Also defense is the least thing you should worry about as DPS. You will want your Might higher and Crit Chance higher. I do not know much about Fire DPS and what your load out should be, but let me talk to some people. Add me to your friends list and we can talk in game.

I switched to bow, at first I didn't really like it. but after using it on a daily, just to try it out... it's kinda growing on me. the damage is nice, the crits however are nowhere near as high with martial arts... but the dps on the bow kinda makes up for it.

It is good to finish all low lvl missions. There are feats worth 25 points that you only get from finishing quest lines. Skill Points in DCUO really do matter. The more skill points you have will make your toon a lot better. I can see the difference in my healing from having 45 skill points to now having 58 or 59 skill points. Yes gear helps, but people like to over look skill points. Like I told Jack if you ever need help with your character I or someone I know in game will explain the best load out and the best way to use Skill Points. Just add me in game Tabanga and I will invite you into a group and grab a friend that can explain everything to you, but like I told Jack if I dont respond quickly I could be doing something and not paying attention to my chat log. In that case, just send me a message on PS3 and I will try and set up a time that I help.

You would have to buy a new respect token to get into Electricity. I made an alt Electricity but he is only lvl 4. I want to try out the AoE's, but so busy on my main I never get the chance to play him. But I ran FOS2 the hardest raid in the game today and the Electric DPS was just destroying things with ease. And you are welcome for the help. Heck that might be worth the $10 to respec. The heals and self heals are pretty good too, from what I've seen when I've had an Electric pair up with me for duos. If it makes me more useful overall... then that's another bonus right there lol. I think I'll do that, the reason I picked fire was for the damage anyway, because I wanted to play a Dps role... I didn't really care for the Tanking aspect. Going this route, would make me more effective in the long run for that role.

As Electric you can heal or DPS, but I would not go into both. It is their supercharge that gives back Health and Power it is similar to my Nature Superpower. If you do go Electric, just realize the Bow will be your bext DPS weapon.

Cool, then that will make things much simpler. This sounds like the build for me, I have a similar supercharge on my Immolation tree. I'm, looking forward to respecing my character after reading all of this. Thanks brother.

I still feel lacking in my MA gadget, acrobat guy, bought Legendary level, but I feel I am not putting him together right. my CR is 32 and I have only 19 marks for T1 armor. I am failing at all the missions either cause I just can't stay alive or all my gear is broken fast and then I can't stay alive. Frustrating. Almst need a whole second set of armor to keep on hand.
Any advice or direction would be great. I just havent had any free time to read thru all the junk online to get the good info. I use the little time I have to play.

Let me know if any of you need help I can run most of you through Dou's. That will get you more MoT's then running the solo quest for MoT's. I have a Cr of 70, so I should be able to keep you alive. Steel it might be a little hard for you. Maybe I can find some drops for you to raise your CR. What role do you play as? Some of those solo missions are very hard. I would only do Thief of Souls, Lunatic Fringe, The Demon Inside, and maybe Psychosomatic Illness until you get a Cr of 45 then try the other 3 or 4.
So I am about to get on, should I keep doing the same ones over and over. I did the alert for containment and missed one gorilla restraint and have to do it all over again haha

I'm trying to get some feats done for more skill points. so I'm running some races at the moment and going over the old quest line again. If I plat the races, I think I'll get more points so I'm shooting for that.
Yeah I have been doing what feats I can too for skill points. I wish there were more power points than 15. I have done all the single and what group missions I could fight thru alone. I am stuck on the stupid pengbot Maximus on the penguin mission and the Stryker island carry the power core one(those carry obstacle courses pisses me off). I feel I didn't really class myself well. I feel I should have been a tank. I don't like that I'm gadget martial arts and I am easy to kill and don't post a lot of damage.

I tried those exact same missions and am stuck in the EXACT SAME SPOT! Fuckin Pengbot
Yeah I can cruise thru the ones he mentioned in 10-15 minutes each with ease, but that damn pengbot. And what's the story with the penguin statues. They glow then disappear when you activate them. I know there is one I haven't gotten way hi when you first go in.

I did the catwoman mission this morning and it got me up to 33 combat rating

I have done some more of them and then out of boredom tried the sockets with betas and moved up 2 cr and pack a punch now. I have so many exobytes it's crazy, my 4 yr old is trolling around metropolis today getting more. He loves it.
Oh and I accidentally went to Karin or whereever black Adam is and died at the first intersection. Haha

If anyone needs a League just let me know. I can point you in the right direction or get you into the one I am in. I know the league I am in is more then willing to help people get geared out. We also do PvP and have set times and sign up for raids. Also someone would be more then willing to help run you through some Dou's including myself. I can pretty much solo any Dou by myself now, so its not really a big deal for me. Got my 3rd piece of T3 last night and now have a CR 72 with 80 skill points, so I can help people find easy feats and help running them through missions.
it turns out the faction armor is glitched. I'm going for the feats for these.... so I was wondering, if anyone knows a work around to equip them.
Yeah haven't even gotten but 1 t1 armor at least I think it is hah

Faction is just the armor you get for being in good standing with anyone faction

The Devs know it's bugged and they're working on it. but untill it's fixed, you have to drag and drop it to equip it lol.
Anyone who has Wonder Woman, as a mentor wanna invite me so I can get here feats done. I'll do the same I have Superman, if you want to do this just invite me in game.
Just ran my first t2 alerts today and I'm up to 50 skill points and counting.

Word of advice, if you see the league Black Amanda Killers in raid or alerts... leave. These guys suck so bad it's not even funny, I swear not one of them.... in their entire league know how to play their selected roles.
Now, if you get in with a group called the Incredibles. Run with these cats....You wont regret it.
Got my first piece of T2 and now on to my second. My CR just hit 50 too.
I'm topping the in game scoreboards for alerts... 51CR and rising.
