That sucks bro, we got to do our phase 1 where we were stationed. And then back home to good ole Ft.Knox for phase 2.

The "old guard" cadre didnt know what to do with us, the new stryker Cavalry Scouts. :twisted:
Our TTP was a different than the traditional, they kept wanting us to fight the Stryker like it was a Bradley CFV. :lol:

DUDE! I did just that...and it was f&**ing amazing! You want to talk about something that will really make you proud to be a Soldier, that's THE prime example. I spent about 90 minutes there, and I still didn't really get to take it all in. The memorial walkway beside the museum was pretty awe inspiring too. I found the marker for the 72nd Armor battalion, which was the first unit I was ever assigned to back in 1988-89 (A Co., 1/72nd AR).

If any of the rest of you ever find yourself down around the Ft. Knox way, you really owe it to yourself to come and check out the Patton Museum, regardless of your branch of service.

There's a Patton Museum close to where I work in Indio California. It's pretty cool. I've never seen this other one your talking about.

From the musuem's website:

The museum complex consists of the Patton Museum itself, outdoor static displays, and the Armor Memorial Park. It is adjacent to Keyes Park, which contains a covered picnic facility, restrooms and children’s playground. The General George Patton Museum contains the largest collection of Patton artifacts in the world, including personal items used by General Patton throughout his life.

It is a museum detailing the history of the US Cavalry and Armor, every time period is represented from Colonial/Revolutionary to, War or 1812, Civil War, Indian Wars, Mexican War, Spanish American War, War of Philippine Independence, WW1, WW2, Cold War, Gulf War and Modern Cavalry and Armor. There is a rumor of my BDE donating one of our war vet Strykers to the Musuem (1-14CAV).

One of the coolest things they got is a German Panzer VII (King Tiger), and a captured Iraqi T-72 from the Gulf War

One of the coolest things they got is a German Panzer VII (King Tiger), and a captured Iraqi T-72 from the Gulf War

Here's a pic of said T-72. I was in the Gulf War and saw plenty of these. The intelligence unit I was in at the time was in charge of processing all captured weapons to analyze them for capabilities and weaknesses. One of the things that was discovered was that the Iraqis were outfitting all of their tanks, particularly their older models, with blazer reactive armor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_armour). At the time, this was unexpected, but the front line units were notified and able to adjust accordingly.

Thats a cool picture. I'm surprised we found a tank that wasn't set ablaze by our armored units or A-10's...haha.
