most i agree with but i find dane cook, jeff dunham, and jay leno to be amusing. They're not the funniest people in the world but i don't think they should be in the bottom 10

I hate Dane Cook. Never heard any of Dunham. And I just find Leno boring.

Dane Cook was funny when he was hungry. Let's face it, when these guys reach stardom, they forget where they came from and really aren't funny anymore. DON'T EVEN get me started on fucking Carlos Mencia. This should be required viewing for this fraud:

BTW, Dave Atell is the funniest comedian.

Jeff Dunham is the one with the terrorist skeleton puppet. He is pretty funny but after listening to him once or twice it gets old.

One of my personal all time favorite comedians was the late Mitch Hedberg. To bad he is dead now...

i agree, mitch hedberg was great. His early cd was a little quiet and hard to understand at times but i've heard, on top of drugs and drinking, he had a massive stage fright issue, hence the glasses on stage and looking away from the audience a lot. He had nice short jokes though, never drawn out stories. One or two lines and then the punch line lol

the thing i like about escalators is you'd never see a "escalator out of order" sign, it would just say "escalator temporarily stairs" "sorry for the convenience that you can still get up there"

my friend he said "i hear music"....as if there were some other way to take it in. I tried to taste it, it did not work

I went to see Jeff Duham with some family members. Sure, he was funny, but if you've seen his stuff on Comedy Central, DVD, or YouTube, you've seen the bulk of his routine.

My favorites are Ricky Gervais and Eddie Izzard.

I have to agree with most of that list. I think the biggest issue is like TLOG saids once they make some Money they don't have to work as hard to make some funny shit they give up. And Carlos Mencia Even stealing jokes like he does he STILL isn't funny, if you are gonna steal jokes steal from funny people like Steve Martin, Bill Cosby, or Robin Williams. Eddie Izzard has got to be one of my favorite comedians.

I think American comediy, like the guys on this list, fits into the low humor realm, full of slapstick and lewd jokes. I mean Larry the Cable Guy's entire set is built around being ignorant white trash with a hygiene problem. Dane Cook half the time is acting like a cave man who thinks he's the funniest person on the earth (I've always thought he seemed like an arrogant douche on stage). There just isn't a lot of high humor going on.

If you look at a guy like Eddie Izzard, many of his jokes are intelligent. They're based on a comprehension of history and events; they're clever, satirical, and/or insightful. Where as the comedians mainstream America exhults rely on fart jokes.

Just look at the decline of parody comedies in American culture. Movies like Airplane! and Hot Shots! were so clever; then a couple of crude and offensive apes came along and made movies like Scary Movie, Not Another Teen Movie, and Disaster movie; where scenes seem fragmented and jokes are haphazardly thrown in with no discernible relevence to the story; couple that with the sheer disgusting aspect of the plethora of fart, vomit and other excrement based jokes and you have a movie that lacks any real ingenuity or evolution from a primate way of thinking. Come on, "me Tarzan you Jane" Is funnier than half that crap.

That isn't to say all of American humor is like that. Certainly we do herald greats like Richard Pryor and Steve Martin. And there is some brilliant comedy going around if you look for it. But a lot of it seems lost on the general public; like Wes Anderson who did The Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Rushmore and most recently Fantastic Mr. Fox. There's the shows Modern Family and Better Off Ted that are so brilliant and ridiculously funny, but they're struggling to survive in mainstream tv. It seems like the majority of Americans want dumbed down humor. Which is really sad to me.

Yeah this is a true statement, When you are poor and need to pay bills...everything better be funny if you want to eat. But let's face it.....When you are Rich, You make way more money than your General Public so its hard to produce new material that relates to the audience. In Most cases comedians tell the same old tired jokes they told before and try to mask it as new material, for this small group of people who do this....comedy is more of a "NICHE" for them not an actual practiced talent more of class clownish and can make you laugh.......True Comedians such as Pryor, Carlin, (# 1 and 2 in my book of all time) and a selected few are truly Talented, and blessed with not only the ability to tell a good joke, but to be able to deliver hysterical rants and raves on all subjects is truly remarkable....
