A while back I was picking between this game and uncharted 2. Ended up with uncharted 2 which I don't have anymore. I didn't like the online play, but the SP was great. I might pick this up sometime. It will probably be a used copy from Craigslist since Gamestop is so expensive with their used games.

Yea this game is great, the 4 player co-op is awesome. You can jump in and out of a friends match with ease. I loved watch the heads of the enemies exploding with a head shot, the bodies blowing up into little pieces when hit with a rocket, or watching their flesh melt when you light them on fire, lmao. The artwork actually adds to the game.

Any Borderlands players here? I've been trying to play online with other people but I'm the only one among my PS3 friends that owns this game and there's no way to tell on the online game selection if the other player has a mic or not. I've been finding that a lot of them don't which makes it a bit less fun if you can't communicate. Let me know and I'll be glad to jump online with you.

yeah i know i will but it's like when i bought a couple games and then picked up MGS4 a few days later. It killed me that it sat there not being played for several weeks because i knew how awesome it was going to be but i didn't want to start playing it until i knew i could devote my time to it so i wanted to get the other new ones out of the way

Alright Maximus you need to get this game. I am already at level 13!! Got about 5 trophies too. This game is so much different than any other game I have played. Really hard to describe and not a bad thing, you would just have to play to understand. It is very hard staying alive though. Luckily I had Jack, Shrimpy, and Cajun there to revive me. So far I am digging it, I just don't want to get to burnt out on MAG.

Maximus let me sum it up for you, this game is awesome!!

You can drive around in these dune buggies running over midgets that have on a Jason mask. While you are driving, someone else can be in the turret blowing up skags. For how cartoonish the graphics look it is fairly gory, lots of blood and guts, lol. Even though it is cartoonish they put a huge amount of detail into everything. You can find ammo just about everywhere. Little piles of crap on the ground is where you can always find money or ammo. You have three main skill trees you can build onto so your character keeps improving. There is so much customization with the weapons it is unbelievable!!

My rating so far is a solid A. I would give it an A+ but they seem to be having online mic issues. I switched to my unofficial bluetooth and turned up the mic volume all the way, Shrimpy and I could actually talk fine then.

anyone that is being thrown off by the cell shaded graphics that the developers decided to throw in should put that small fact behind them. if i wanted to run around and blow up real looking people in a game i would just throw in MW2 and go to town. the ridiculous sayings, the crazy baddies and cartoonish look is what rounds the whole game off. and yes, co-op game out right now.

and if you have the game, and don't seem to appreciate it, try switching to a new character, because they all play differently.

i think thats just because people with there SUPER HD tv's are so used to shooting at realish looking people or playing games that have been made to look as real as possible, and can't get over the fact that good graphics doesn't necessarily mean realish looking.

I'm always somewhat mistified at this relativly recent thing where a game
must have ultra cutting edge realistic graphics or it sucks. There are many old games that I far prefer to some of the newer fare, because the game play was better and/or more challenging.

The flashback to MSG during MSG4 took me several minutes to adjust, because in MSG getting into a gun fight against mooks was almost certain death, but I had become accustemed to treating the next three MSG titles as stealth shooters. But I digress.

I actually like the graphics, it's what initially turned me on to this game. The fact that it looks like you're playing in a graphic novel is pretty cool. Single player is fun but the Co-op is what puts this thing over the top for me. Plus that fact that there's over 3 million weapon combo's.

If you're not sure about it, try renting it for a week. I'm sure you'll get hooked in there first couple hours of play.

Do you ever come across a storage in this game, where you can safely store items you don't want in your backpack? I'm a bit of a collector so it kills me to have to sell off special items like boss weapons, even though they quickly become obsolete when you find bigger and better things. I'm constantly having to sell things because my inventory is only at 18 slots right now :(

Cruc, i know you said you are a fan of Fallout so i recommend you give this game a try. It plays similar to Fallout 3, a first person RPG, with the option of 4 player co-op and it is a lot of fun. Plenty of sniping you can do with tons of different variations of weapons. I think the graphic style is awesome and enjoy the fact that they aren't going for realistic. When a game tries for realistic visuals it usually only leaves you analyzing and thinking how unrealistic it actually looks

Okay so I picked this up yesterday. Its like friggin video game crack! I have been playing a ton and i'm at level 19 or 20 now. The co-op is what makes the game. I described it to a buddy of mine as a Fallout 3 MMO. If any of you are online when I am, send me a message and we'll join up. :D

If you've had a look at your trophy list lately for this game you will see that there are several new additions, indicating another DLC pack is on it's way. I can't find the official statement or if one has been made yet but i've seen it quoted that Gearbox says this will be the biggest DLC yet with tons of new missions. The level cap is also getting a raise to what i would assume is 61? there is a trophy for getting to 61 at least so that much is certain

Alright, i just beat the game tonight and for those that were wondering, here's the lowdown:

Ending - not so great. awesome game, just don't let the lackluster ending catch you off guard or you will be let down. After the credits roll you are given another mission and are free to roam about finishing side quests you may have missed. Now this part is the part that bugs me, aside from wanting more story from the ending; With the last mission completed, it does not tell you anything else. No indication that you are done or anything. I am a bit of a completest so i had finished all side quests prior to reaching the end of the game so once i turned in that last mission after the credits.....nothing.

Now on to the good part. Once you go to load up your character again, you are given the option of which playthrough you would like to load, 1 or 2. Loading 1 will put you right where you left off, so you can finish up those side missions or whatever else you may want. Loading the second playthrough however, starts you in the beginning but you retain all stats, weapons, abilities, etc. and the enemies are now more powerful to compensate for your higher level. Of course with stronger enemies comes better loot so now you will be collecting bigger and better weapons from the get go, only to get better as you progress. That being said, each subsequent play through you did would theoretically yield better and better weapons and loot. I'm almost done with all the trophies, only need 4 more, but I'm not up to the max level yet (only made it to lvl 37 thus far) and i was afraid i would have to run around lvl grinding for hours on all the weak enemies so i was relieved to see that the second playthrough retains everything from the 1st and i should be leveled up in no time.

Also, you can load up the 1st play through again later even after you started the 2nd if you so choose. This can be especially helpful in cases where you are helping a friend online and want to fast travel them to a good area to level up or find powerful weapons that you haven't re-unlocked in your 2nd playthrough (fast travel locations have to be rediscovered, they don't carry over from the previous game)

that is all for now, I'm looking forward to the next DLC to come out for PS3 later today. I will report back here on the awesomeness if someone doesn't beat me to it lol

I just Dwnloaded the New DLC for Borderlands yesterday...........So far, so Good...........it is worth every penny............I suggest all who dont have this game to go and pick it up, Replay value is very high. Those of you who do have it..........well check out the DLC, its like a new game all over again.....

Borderlands Update 1.30 Notes

Addressed issues:
- Invalid weapons or items can no longer be loaded into the game
- Brick’s Centurion class mods now regenerate health correctly
- Brick’s Bombardier class mods now regenerate rockets correctly
- Roland’s Tactician class mods now regenerate shields correctly and display the correct bonus values
- Roland’s Rifleman class mods now apply damage increase to all machine guns
- Certain powerful legendary item names should now be displayed in the appropriate color
- Opening the bank in the Mad Moxxi DLC no longer prevents other players from moving
- Multiple copies of DLC missions can no longer be obtained
- Corrected some incorrect icons in the ammo vendor

- Added icons to the server browser that indicate which DLCs the server has installed

- Added a notification if a player attempts to continue a game saved in DLC that is no longer installed
- Fixed DLC notification dialogs that were not closing properly
- Alt-F4 no longer closes the game if it is not in focus (PC Only)

- Added support for allowing multiple user login on PS3, so that friends can play on another player's system in splitscreen. (PS3)

Balance adjustments:
- Chests in New Haven have been adjusted to contain more appropriate loot
- The duration of daze effects has been reduced to 6 seconds, and the amount by which it decreases the speed of enemies and their projectiles has been reduced
- Damage from shock elemental effects has been increased
- Repeater pistol damage has been slightly increased, accuracy slightly decreased

There are wanted posters all over with all 4 of the playable character's pictures and ridiculous charges. If you one for story i would recommend finishing the main game before starting this since the intro movie does have a little bit of spoilers. I haven't played the Dr. Ned DLC personally but from the looks of things it seems like the timeline of the game is Borderlands->General Knoxx->Dr. Ned->Moxxi, but Moxxi really could fit in there anywhere since there really isn't story, it's just arena battles, But it would take place after Knoxx since in this expansion Moxxi is introduced and you don't know who she is yet.

Modded weapons may be gone but the level cap is up to 61, there is a new 4 player vehicle type, there seems to be a lot of missions (i already have 4 or 5 queued up) with a new bounty board as well, and I got attacked by NINJAS!!!! female ninjas. hear that Jack? everything's not so bad after all.

Most of the enemies in the new expansion are all pretty weak if you're playing on playthrough 1 still. I haven't fought him yet, but i hear the final boss isn't above lvl 40, but he has wicked armor.

On another not, Dr. Ned's Island is a good place to go lvl up on playthrough 2 (since you can fast travel there anytime). most of the zombies will be around lvl 42 and you'll get good xp and weapons.

I also enjoy the General Knoxx messages, it's pretty funny. This game does a really good job at keeping it amusing with the NPC commentary.

I also enjoy the General Knoxx messages, it's pretty funny. This game does a really good job at keeping it amusing with the NPC commentary.

Just picked up the new expansion. I'm only lvl 38 so it's pretty tough on the 2nd run through. I'll have to try it on the 1st run through.

Most of the enemies in the new expansion are all pretty weak if you're playing on playthrough 1 still. I haven't fought him yet, but i hear the final boss isn't above lvl 40, but he has wicked armor.

On another not, Dr. Ned's Island is a good place to go lvl up on playthrough 2 (since you can fast travel there anytime). most of the zombies will be around lvl 42 and you'll get good xp and weapons.


Dr. Ned's Island starts zombies at the current lvl which you arrived. Be warned, if you enter at too low of a lvl for playthrough 2, you'll miss out on tons of good higher lvl loot (cause the zombies will be higher lvl and drop higher gear). I do love playing the new DLC. Kinda suckey with the massive driving ad all, but HEY! Well worth the 10 bucks.

Max, wanna do some more Mad Maxxi? this time you load it so we can play on your lvls. It'll be easier, and I can just go to town.

i just accidentally fell into the armory prior to starting the timer so instead of having 2 minutes to raid the armory and run before it blows up, i got to take my time going through the whole thing, opening weapons crate after weapons crate after weapons crate........it was awesome. I was only picking up orange and purple weapons and still walked out of there will a full inventory and 13 orange rare weapons. don't worry about watching the whole thing, the important part is only in the first minute or two. I accidently fell into this because i was trying to hide from my brother behind that container thing when he was lagging behind me lol


important things to keep in mind:

KEEP OUT OF THE ROUND ROOM THAT THE LIFT NORMALLY COMES DOWN IN!!!! if you go into that room it will activate the steal loot part of the mission objectives, and lock the door up top, making it so you can no longer complete the mission.

if you run out of room in your inventory, unequip your shield and then throw a grenade down and let it kill you. you can then spawn out by the vending machines, sell what you don't want, and go drop back into the armory.

so long as you stay out of that round room you can save the game and redo the armory raid as many times as you want.

I have that Mod too lol. I used to use it exclusively but I'm an SMG fanatic so I'm using a mod that replenishes my SMG ammo for the party. I love never running out of ammo. My only gripe about the game right now (at least on the 360 side) is that the Robolution DLC is driving me crazy. I'm trying to get the "What a Party" Achievement where you have to find the Pink Panties, The Klapfish in a bag and the Pizza slices. I got the panties and the fish but I can't find the pizza. The offshore oil cans and the bobbleheads don't drop nearly enuf either :(

Ok. So I just finished the main quest for Borderlands the other night and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. You defeat the Destroyer and then you don't even get to go in the Vault? And you don't even really get any cool artifacts or badass weaponry? Even the "fortune" Tannis pays out to you is only $200k, which was but a 1/3 of what I already had. Needless to see, I was pretty disappointed. Did I miss something? Do you have to not die to get awesome stuff? Is there something I don't know that I was suppose to do?

That being said ... awesome game. Have had a lot of fun playing and plan on playing through again. So far my only real complaint is the main quest's finale was a bit of a let-down, and honestly I find most RPG type main quest finales to be disappointing.

Just wondering if maybe I just missed something in the end.

The general knox dlc was a much more satisfying conclusion and takes place a little after the end of the main game so i recommend jumping into that once you can download it.

Yeah the big bad wasn't all that bad. The only reason I really died more than once was cos I kept accidentally getting too close to the edge when trying to distance myself and he'd occasionally manage to knock me off the ledge. But I tried to level up as much as I could before I went into the last mission.

The story is pretty cool though. And you are right, it does seem like the idea was to have the Vault be a mistranslated legend.

Overall, enjoyed the game. Doing the option to playthrough by replaying at a higher level, which is a function that I think is really cool.

I heard you could customize weapons in the game, but I haven't seen any option to do that yet. Is it true?

hmm....customizing weapons, legitimately......not that i know of. Game save file modding....yes. It's been changed and altered a lot but talk to Jack about what he can still do with making modded weapons. personally all i've ever done with modding is alter the completion status of the general knoxx armory mission because i accidentally glitch it to where i couldn't finish the mission lol

It's tricky now... if one value is off or you added a barrel with the wrong prefix to a certain weapon. Then try to load it... your whole file is corrupted, along with all of your DLC and you have to dump everything and reload it. I tried it a few times (with little varying degrees of success) it was a good thing I backed everything up. otherwise I would've lost it all(WHICH DID HAPPEN TO ME ONCE, DAMN YOU GEARBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but I did learn from my mistake a second time.) and had to start over from scratch.

I was out of town during the time they had Borderlands at the 20 buck rate. I see it's still up but now for 29.99. But that is just the original game and doesn't come with all the DLC? I saw a bunch of DLC ranging from 9.99 to an additional 29.99... :( I'd like to get this and start playing but damn I don't wanna spend all that... :(

Since you missed the amazing deal I'd say your next best bet is to look for a used copy. If you can find a used GOTY edition it is basically the same thing they were selling on the PS store last week, the game + the 4 DLC packs. Gamestop lists the GOTY edition at 34.99 used/ 39.99 new. That's still a pretty good deal considering the game itself goes for 19.99 and each of the 4 DLC packs go for 9.99 a piece.

on second thought....I'm not sure how they handled the DLC packs. If they included them on the disc then yeah, go for the used copy. But if they just put vouchers for the DLC in the box then you'd be getting ripped off since they are more than likely already used so it would be better to get a new copy for the extra $5. Ask at the store and pray they are more competent than the majority of Gamestop employees I've come across
