Looking for a new computer

Ok I am now in the market for a new computer that is more functional than my netbook that I am currently using. This thing is good for sitting on the couch and surfing the web but just not that practical for what I need. Anyone know of any good laptops or suggestions that they could give? I am looking for something probably $500 or less. I would like the most computer for the money if there is such a thing. Any links to certain computers or sales that I might be interested in would be great, thanks. So far I have gone to bestbuy, office depot, walmart, and checked the paper. I still probably need to check out Sam's Club too.

Do you need a better video card?
Do you need more memory, or more harddrive space?
Do you need WIFI?
Do you need longer battery Life?

Do you need a burner? dvd/blu-ray
Do you need a webcam?

I can happily quote you anything, but with a $500.00 budget, you realistically are just not gonna get much more then what your netbook already provides. :confused:

My answers to your questions are in the quote. I currently have the HP mini 110. It's also slow on loading photoshop and stuff like that.

$500 was just what I was wanting to spend but willing to go a little higher. also if u can check out http://www.aafes.com/ .. they have several options all tax free and also partnered with couple different company's like dell custom order what you what for very cheap price!!and NO TAX!!! lots of options across the board....

Www.newegg.com just for more options. This TF2 clan a friend of mine ran swore by it. Something like 75% of the clan ran on rigs they bought or built from newegg.

lol truth be told it's only a USB hub, you can google transformer usb hub and you'll find it in various places

If your going to be running Photoshop you want at least;
1. a dual core processor
2. 2gig RAM
3.Decent integrated graphics
(I recommend any of the AMD VISION line, they share unused system RAM with the video chip (GPU)
not the best for hardcore games, but good for some video editing and picture editing.
4.a 7200RPM HDD

if your willing to get a tower, i can build it for ya, Just send me a PM. You will be able to get much more horsepower for much less $$$$ than with a laptop

Well I made my purchase. I went with the HP Pavilion dv7-3164cl Entertainment Notebook PC - AMD Turion II Dual-Core M520 2.3GHz, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, 17.3" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium. Got it for 549.97 and it's pretty much a 1,000 dollar laptop. I hope this one will work great for me. :D

May I suggest a NAS to do your on-sight backups? Has saved my ass from 2 failed hard drives.

Its basically a HDD enclosure that plugs into your home network, and backs up your data from ALL you computers on the network.
