Here's an awesome "myth busting" vid for BF3. I already knew about being able to shoot an RPG through the scout helicopter. But I didn't know about the roadkill vs. mortar issue. I also know you can't knife someone on mortars.

EA gives in to demands over its broken E3 promise.

At E3 2011, EA promised that PlayStation 3 owners who bought Battlefield 3 would find a free copy of Battlefield 1943 nestled alongside it on the Blu-Ray. It never happened, leading angry customers to file a class-action lawsuit against the publisher for breaking its word.

Today, though, EA is finally making good on that promise, giving all PS3 Battlefield 3 players a free code to download the PSN title. European players can get theirs on November 26th, North Americans on December 10th, and players in Asia will have to wait until December 17th.

Previously, the publisher tried to make up for the omission by offering one-week exclusivity for PS3 on upcoming DLC packs, but it wasn't enough to placate the community.

You can see how to redeem your code on EA's website, which gives the following instructions:

"To download your copy of Battlefield 1943 for the PlayStation 3 please follow the easy steps below.

1. Activate your Battlefield 3 Online Pass for the PlayStation 3 using the voucher included in the game (see step #5 for additional instructions).

2. Visit 1943redemption.battlefield.com on or after the dates outlined above for your region and log in with your Origin ID and password. Click here if you need help with retrieving your account information.

3. Select your territory. Note vouchers do not work across regions.

4. You will then receive a PlayStation 3 voucher for Battlefield 1943.

from the sounds of it, no. If the site generates a voucher code for you then you could in theory give that code out to whomever you wanted since codes have never been tied to accounts like that. Sounds like you have a Christmas present on your hands lol. Or a MotM prize?

I may have either run across the dumbest bunch of pilots in the history of this game, or I seriously pissed off a bunch of people by disabling/destroying their aircraft. I played two games of conquest on Kharg Island, back to back...once on the Russian side, once on the U.S. side. We were seeing the usual assortment of jets/helos trying to take out each others tanks and aircraft before they could get off and running. I decided to man the AA guns each time.

I managed to totally destroy or disable quite a few airborne enemies, at least to to the point where our pilots could easily finish them off. At one point while on the Russian side, one of the enemy jet pilots tried to kamikaze their jet right into me. During one try, he managed to hit me, but only did minimal damage and just wound up killing himself.

In the next game, on the U.S. side, I destroyed three of their aircraft in a row. The next thing I know, there's a tank rolling up to our spawn that's trying to hide off to the side of a bunker and take me out. I spot him, and our jets take his ass out. The dummy gets out of the tank before it blows, and tries to hit me with an RPG. He quickly found out that the AA gun is VERY effective on ground personnel....particularly stupid ones.

I thought I'd seen it all, but yet ANOTHER tank rolls up later and stops on the hillside above our spawn, but directly in front of my guns. I took out his tank with the AA guns, killing the lone occupant in the process. He just happened to be the guy who did the kamikaze attack in the prior round, AND the one who had previously bought first tank up to hide behind the bunker.

Some people really don't need to be playing this game, LOL.

Trying to get revenge in this game never works. I have learned that if someone kills me to not try and hunt them. Today I was sniping in Kharg and got three people trying to hide under the dump truck. A few minutes later all three of them try to get under there again, three more easy headshots for me. What they failed to realizes is I had my MAV next to me. When they snuck up behind me they had a M9 Tac waiting for them.

Plus the AA guns are practically indestructible. So yea, attacking you in them was pretty pointless. Good job eliminating the "privates" lol

Battlefield 3 has been banned from Iran with police even arresting shop owners who are secretly selling the game. Battlefield 3 isn't officially available from any resellers in Iran, but pirated copies of video games and movies are widely available according to AFP. The reasoning behind the ban is due to Battlefield 3's fictional story where American forces launch an assault on Iran's capital, Tehran. Oh yea that was them ... same clan all same rank ... they were working very well together. Not to mention we weren't doing too bad with you guys in the mix when you left it was impossible because the randoms were not doing anything close to trying to win ... they were stacking up blocking everyone's field of fire and not providing any coverage at the flanks.
That squad was running every equipment type too .. they would push up and drop spawn points and you couldn't throw a rock and not hit a sensor of theirs. By the time it was all said and done it was just men and x_31bX_x in our squad with randoms whit not mics on ... Rivier was out there and I kept inviting but no sooner would I get the invite out the open slots would get filled with another random so we couldn't even get Riv over to our squad.

They really weren't doing anything special they were just using good tactics and using them very well.

One thing I did take away though was how brutally effective mobile re spawns can be their time form rear area to pointy end of the stick was next to nothing and they kept forcing us to have to make long runs back to anywhere close to a place where we could be effective. It was like a reverse spawn camp ... it was a great move on their part.

When the next map popped up as Operation Metro, I was like "Oh hell no." I jumped out and linked up with one of the guys from King clan for Operation Firestorm. That turned out to be the only win out of the four matches I played in.

The last one, Grand Bazaar, wasn't any better. All of the guys that were in our team in Firestorm wound up on the other team. They proceeded to kick us back to our spawn and box us in. Not a good night at all.

Once I saw that I had ranked up, I just decided to call it a night and avoid any more bloodletting. LOL.

Balance changes

• Increased the damage of helicopter miniguns, AA guns, and jet cannons against infantry (definitely a welcome change, dual 30mm cannons should chew you up and spit you out instantly)
• Increased the damage of helicopter miniguns against jeeps
• Reduced the physics impact of AA guns and jet cannons so players under attack from these weapons no longer should lose control (that was annoying, one burst and you were upside down with no way to correct sometimes)
• Increased the damage of the 44 Magnum slightly
• Increased the range and minimum damage of the .357 Round from the MP412 Rex
• Increased the range of all .45cal and 9mm weapons
• Slightly increased the range of the P90 and MP7 and PDW-R
• Slightly increased the range of the 5.56mm PDW-R and decreased the minimum damage at long range
• Slightly increased the minimum range of the Mk11, SVD, and M39 EMR 7.62mm rifles
• Decreased the maximum damage and maximum range of the G3 and SCAR-H 7.62mm weapons
• Reduced the damage from FIM-92 and SA-18 IGLA missiles against aircraft (IDK how I feel about this, on one hand I will dominate even more in the air, on the other hand it is easy enough as it is to survive, good pilots will dominate)
• Increased the damage and range of the 40mm BUCK rounds
• Reduced the damage .50cal weapons do against helicopters
• Updated T90 canister shell tweaks to match Abrams canister shells

Yeah I wasnt with them at first either I was with 2 good randoms and Taino. I started out on the wrong team twice. We joined as a squad and got split up.

I don't like opening my mike to team when there are mainly Randoms, cause sometimes they are idiots and have music or yelling in the back ground. I do talk shit sometimes though. I felt I was playing football as aggressive as I got one round knifing and glocking guys in close combat.

If we have multiple USMG squads I will open my to team tonight too.

Agreed but the problem is it wasn't supposed to be a NV scope it's supposed to be a IR thermal scope actually maybe that's the nerf .. they made it a starlight scope not a IR imager ... if that was the idea behind the code change then it works up to what you would expect from a light augmenting device where there is plenty of light.

I do have to say that I do like the new spotting of the enemy mines now, particularly in the mortar cam. That's an easy 20 points per destruction. They also improved the hit indicator for the mortars, so you at least know if you're closing in.

And the faster turning turrets? They definitely turned out to be a lifesaver. :cool:

Heck yeah! I needed to take out some snipers last night, and was tearing them up with my mortars. I think I ended with 13 mortar kills, and 5 vehicle destructions...LOL! :rolleyes:

Yea, the IRNV nerf isn't nearly as bad as that video indicated. The fog effect is fucking annoying though, at least people are still orange that video seemed to indicate that everything was mono color green. And I'll have to give the mortars another shot if they've added hit marks. Without them it felt like you got lucky if you managed to destroy anything.

Another thing they changed is the number of points required to unlock the weapons from co-op for multiplayer. Now you only need 160,000 points (roughly 16 rounds, or each map completed twice), down from more than double that. I went from only having the MP412 unlocked to everything but the G3A3. I wasn't even going to bother with the rest before the patch. Now they are well within reach without having to grind co-op into the dirt.

Another thing I noticed in regard to the stinger nerf. It doesn't appear that they nerfed the stinger damage itself. Instead aircraft aren't disabled until they drop to about %45, down from %55. This requires two stingers before the aircraft is disabled instead of just one, a god send for pilots without hurting the stingers effectiveness too much.

We were really a PS3 heavy clan until an article about USMG appeared in Xbox magazine last year. I think this year has seen the biggest increase in PC participants.

Ok last night while I was DL'n B2k I ended up with a series of system lock ups while pulling the file in. I checked on the Battlelog forums and there was no traffic about this type of problem.

I finally figured out that it might be BF3 timing out on me so I exited the in game store portal and went to the Playstation Store proper and the file came over with no issues.

SO even though the little card that comes with the Limited Edition says that you should pull it in through the game ... it may not always work the way you would think.

I hope I was the only one with this issue and if I wasn't I hope this will help.

What a beating last night ... we even jumped out .. reformed and got back in to a completely different game with exactly the same circumstances.

there were a few of us last night and after a bad round on my part, we started controlling the games. I love the communication and team work, we swept thru areas and teams were getting frustrated. I stayed on after Trackerusmc and MjolnirActual for one last game, to get my 3rd eng star. After they left it was 4 against 8 and my team went to 3 and we actually made their guys quit cause we dominated them. It was so funny. I had like 6000 points and only 7 kills, their tanks and choppers couldnt find me.

I am lucky he and I have been on together at least once ever week. I am on all the time so that helps. With him in a tank and MjolnirActual in aircraft I can scout around and spot then things go boom suddenly. :cool:


My K/D has risen too. I am at .955.

I, actually when it gets really hairy, throw on the squad suppression and a good extended mag lmg, then suppress the enemy and it helps my whole team get kills. especially in Metro kind of maps. I find teams focus on me and get suppressed effect then my team pot shots em. I do the same with my RPG suppression on snipers. I mainly ry to show where tangos are cause shooting wise I use a whole mag for each guy I kill, 11 % accuracy.(and I was an expert marksman in the army lol) If all goes well tonight I can hit 2.0 on my win/loss rate.

yeah with blazer we both have flares and then I have stealth He is one of the best pilots I have seen. We team up when he flies jets too I will use my SAM and get people off his tail or use their flares and then he lights them up./

Thanks for the kind words guys. If anyone wants to improve their chopper skills try practicing on the Fire From the Sky co-op mission, that was a big help for me early on. You won't have to worry about letting the team down or waiting for a chopper, and AA is minimal. Oh, and speaking of choppers, check this out...

The funny thing is that we were defending, defenders don't get a chopper. See those two A-91 kills? Those are the pilot and co-pilot of their little bird. After teaching them a lesson in when not to fly low and slow it was like shooting fish in a barrel as they spawned on the ship. :D

Just speaking from personal experiences only, Tapgrillz from the KINGs clan is also pretty bad ass in the copter as well. I've flown as his gunner several times.

since people have discussed downloading the map pack i'm going to assume you'd need to download it to your own PS3 as well. If you downloaded it through your PSN account though, regardless of who's PS3 it actually was, you'd be able to download it again as you would any other downloaded content (XMB>account management>transaction management>download list)

Now i could be wrong but since this sounds like a bit of an unconventional way to go about downloading the map pack I'm going to guess, is the ultimate goal you're trying to accomplish here is make it so you and your buddy can both access the maps by downloading it through your account on both systems? If that is the actual question here then instinctively I want to give it a big...maybe lol. It worked that way with BFBC2 but i'm not certain if they put up extra preventive measures to keep people from doing that. Worth a shot though

ah ok, that makes sense. then yeah i'm guessing you'd still have to download it on your own PS3 to access it. could be wrong though. depends on if the B2K download was just an access key or the whole map pack. If it's just an access key download then it would be tied into your PSN account more than likely and not need to be downloaded again but i'm not very confident in that being the case

To all the BF3 players out there, did you have to download a big patch once the DLC came out and only a small ~100kb activation key when you downloaded B2K in the store, or did you have a small patch and a large file to download for B2K?

yeah I am on mostly Sunday to Wednesday nights but sneak on sometimes after my son is in bed the other nights. I was surprised first time ever to see no one else on last night after the football game.

We tore it up the other night again. I always need a game or two to get into my rhythm from playing so many different shooters at the same time. Saturday I played DC universe, MW3, BF3, Back ops and Transformers cybertron so I was all over the place. That was the choices of my son, he is getting ok at DC but other than black ops he has to play against real people and his 4 yr old hands have trouble keeping up.

thanks River. I was going to jump in a match last night but after fiddling for a few seconds with my dog tags I checked to make sure i could start the B2K download ok and I forgot about the reported freezing issues and of course my system locked up lol. I got B2K downloaded and installed after restarting and i jumped on battlelog and it let me in so i guess so long as you do anything in the game in regards to multiplayer you can apply for the platoon without actually playing a match. I'll probably jump in at some point today though :)

I really wish I had some USMG help on this one. We won, but barely. We ended up getting pushed back to the last set of MCOMS. The bad part is there team was short about 3 or 4 players a majority of the game. It was a pretty good battle though!!

We did very well last night. Our randoms where pissing me off thought. A wins a win though. One thing I didn't realize is how deaths can stack up when you are sitting behind a tank repairing. I had to stop and rack up my kills really fast. You probably heard me say, "1 and 8 what the hell". Had to get back to 9 and 8 before repairing again :cool:.

Yeah it wasn't so much the guys in front but the tunnel guys. They were flooding the B tunnel. I came over to push them back some. They flanked us though. But taking C and holding disrupted them. I love doing that.
