Though 343 is still being relatively coy with how they answer questions about their forthcoming Halo title, they did, once and for all, indicate Master Chief will be involved. Unfortunately, they also revealed that, as a developer, they love injecting a little mystery and confusion into the gaming newsphere in the hopes of keeping gamers guessing.

Ever since the somewhat anti-climactic finale of Halo 3 many gamers wondered what was to become of Master Chief, however its original developer Bungie clearly didn’t share that sentiment. Delivering two non-Master Chief related Halo stories, Bungie chose instead to play around with the original universe they created along with further improving their revolutionary AI.


But now, in the hands of 343 Industries, the Halo property is going back to the character that made it famous all those years ago. More specifically 343 revealed to CVG that, “[gamers] certainly haven’t seen the last of Master Chief.”

From the looks of it Bungie wanted to end it, or at least end the story of Master Chief, but now that 343 Industries has taken over the IP it seems they're going back in it. Trying to cash in on previous success or trying to reinvent a series with new blood? only time will tell

Not quite. Bungie purpusely left Master Chief open ended, and 343 was always set for continuing the series. They've been set up to continue something since Bungie announced they were stepping away from Halo.

I think so. There's so much room left in that IP for solid games, it'd be sad if they just shut it down. They just need to find a balance between that and not going the CoD route.

Conan O'Brian and Andy Richter have been confirmed as voice actors in Halo 4, so if you thought the recording session from Halo 4 shown on last night's show was a big joke, nope. It's all true.

Microsoft's PR person Joe Dimiero confirmed the news for us this morning, saying, "Conan and Andy will indeed lend their voices to the world of Halo 4. We’ll have more announcements on the rest of our voice cast in the coming months."

I really hope the lines from the actual recording session make it into Halo 4, because that is some funny stuff. Check it out, under the "Read More" tag.

343 Industries and Microsoft just dropped a TON of Halo 4 multiplayer details, gamers, so pay close and meticulous attention to the following:



Halo Infinity Multiplayer: Halo 4's multiplayer will revolve around the UNSC Infinity, a starship that serves as the center of your Spartan career. Here's where you build and customize your multiplayer character, and "progress your multiplayer career" through all Halo 4 co-op and competitive multiplayer game modes. The idea is to embed the mutliplayer experience into the larger fictional universe of Halo, and to create a system where you "progress and game choices affect your appearance, arsenal and role on the battlefield."
Spartan Ops: Think of this as the intersection between Halo 4's campaign mode and multiplayer modes. 343 describes it as "an episodic adventure that blends immersive storytelling, high-quality cinematics, and action-packed gameplay to deliver and unprecedented serialized experience." In a nutshell, weekly episode of a cinematic show about the crew of the Infinity will be watchable through Xbox Live. These will set the scene for the week's Spartan Ops gameplay missions. These missions will be co-op or single-player. This is provided at no charge.
War Games: This is what game modes that take place on the Infinity are called in the Halo universe. War Games promise the kind of immersive multiplayer Halo is known for, but will offer "fresh, immersive new game modes and strategies." More specific details on the War Game modes are coming.
Perks: For the first time ever, Halo multiplayer will feature useful perks. They're described as "a new loadout and player progression system, and a new armor modification system that introduces gameplay-enhancing customization"

Meh. I'm not a fan of those. I like the nicer case/steelbooks and the few extras (like Soap's journal in MW3 and Halsey's in Reach). And since this one will follow the MW3 model of free DLC with the nicer edition, I'll almost definately get it since I would probably get the maps anyway.

Microsoft has announced a limited edition Halo 4 console bundle. Available for pre-order now, the bundle includes a copy of the standard edition of Halo 4 and a 320GB system. The system itself has an exclusive Halo design in addition to custom sounds when it’s turned on or when a disc is ejected.

The bundle also includes two custom Halo 4 wireless controllers with Halo designs and blue LED lights as well as a black Xbox 360 headset. Players will also receive exclusive Halo 4 downloadable content including a unique armor skin, a unique weapon skin, a unique emblem, matching avatar armor and a unique avatar prop.

The bundle is available for pre-order on Microsoft’s online store for $399.99.

As far as actual gameplay, nothing. You can play it with the older graphics and everything is exactly the same. If you play it with the new graphics, things look different and there are "terminals" you can find that let you find new info about the Halo universe, and there are subtle changes to voices, but really no difference otherwise. I just want to finish it for the sake of completeness.

Well Anniversary was only $40. But yeah, the steelbook limited editions usually are $80-100 but IMO they're worth it if it's a good game.
