05 MAY 06 Afghanistan B/3-10 AVN
#85-24349 "COLOSSAL 31"
A/C was conducting operations on a mountaintop LZ, in support of Operation Mountain Lion near Asadabad in Kunar province, when the rear M/R blades made contact with a tree, totally collapsing the rear rotor system 5 seconds after contact, causing the A/C to crash on a nearby cliff and catch fire.

yeah thanks, they were some good friends ......eric and his son were big star wars nuts...thats why me and eric got along so good..lol...we were deployed to Kosovo and Macedonia..great guy.. unfortunately my community of fellow Hookers is a small pool and these arent the only friends ive lost since 01...

I reluctantly accept your compliment. I say that because I participated in a dozen or so military funeral honors ceremonies, and many times I was the one presenting the flag. It was a true honor to represent the military in doing the presentation, but personally heartbreaking to have to look into the eyes of the person you were giving it to. I have the actual script that we had to recite memorized, and my words here are a bit of a variation on that.

Nonetheless, it's important to keep the memory of those who gave all alive. I salute Crzy for sharing this.

I did that once for a very close friend, whom I had met and befriended during Basic. I don't think I could do it again, so reluctant or not, the fact that you did it multiple times is damn impressive.

I have done the same. Hard to hold the tears back, especially in uniform, and when it's a good friend. I lost over half my team some time ago (year not mentioned on purpose). I feel for you Bro and you have my respect. Semper Fi!!!
