I have it installed but when i go to a site that uses shockwave or flash really heavily the video doesn't load and i was only able to get firefox to work and nothing else and I've stopped using firefox lol

Are you sure its the player, and not the site?

I just installed it with no issue on my Fedora machine. What distro do you have? Did you install via YUM, APT, or use an RPM, or are you trying to compile from source?

You know there is a different addon for both IE and Firefox? Are you sure you have the correct one installed?

Your fighting a losing battle there. According to Wikipedia Windows accounts for greater then 80% of all OS's in the world today, whereas Linux accounts for less then 2%, and continues to lose ground.
