Can anyone recommend a good GPS?

I'm thinking about getting a GPS for my car. Any recommendations? I'm looking for something that's not overly complicated but has a decent amount of features and is reliable.

Garmin, Tom-tom and Magellan are all pretty good.

i prefer Garmin over all else....got 3 ..2 auto and one personal

I have a garmin and it's been great when I need it. Back a couple years ago when I bought mine it was about $400.

get one you can easily carry around with you for extended periods of time and you can go geo-caching. My dad got pretty into that a few years back and it actually was pretty fun giving us a destination while off-roading. It's like modern day treasure hunting. minus the pirates. and a gps coordinate instead of an old map with riddles for directions. and random crap instead of treasure. and you put stuff in it instead of leaving with pockets full of riches. ok it's nothing like treasure hunting but it's still fun dammit! we went to one on thanksgiving day that was designated a recipe cache where you take a recipe and also leave one of your own. it was a neat way to do a recipe exchange

I have had great success with Garmin.

I have a TomTom Go 720 - I got it refurbished via TigerDirect for $89.00 2 years ago.

I still use it today, and its good. The only complainant I have ever had, is when you get on smaller off-the-beaten-path roads or back street, its not very reliable. I think this might be true with any NAV, so I don't really worry about it.

It gets me close enough to my destination. ;)

Droid X by Motorola? I haven't hsd any problems yet.

I did like my Tom Tom though. No experience with the others.

yeah one time on our cross country trip our garmin took us on a road that was someones drive way in Mississippi... LOL!! turned around and found a main road all was good:cool:

I actually have a Garmin Oregon 550t for geocaching. Very pleased with it, taken it camping with the kids, it's been in the mud 4wheeling, and almost found it way to the bottom of Lower Range Pond here in Maine, rolled down hills, and it still works like a champ. The only thing is that you need to get map packs in order for it to work as a turn-by-turn car gps. Other than that it tracks while you drive, and the maps are accurate, well at least for New England so far.
