As many of you know, I have been running more and more this year. Unfortunately, the weather in IL has turned to hell, and the humidity is killer! Anyway, I was complaining to a buddy of mine about running in the heat, and he asked me if I shaved my chest/stomach. Of course, being a country boy, my response was "HELL NO". He was trying to convince me that it keeps you so much cooler, blah blah, and I really thought he was fn with me just to see if I would do it, as I have lots of hair. Then I was talking to my neighbor who is a biker, and his statement was, "I can't believe you don't with how much you run"? Anyway, I got done running last night and was dying, so I said screw it, and shaved it off. WOW, they weren't screwing with me, it's like air conditioning for your body! Just walking around, or even the air in the truck blowing through my shirt, I am way cooler! I know I am probably late to the party, as I think alot of guys who workout do this. But for those of you who haven't, it is freaking awesome!! Not to mention it is a huge motivator to work out even harder.....;)

And to Tracker, DB, and Max, I didn't shave it because it was raining men last night...LMAO!

You do know that this thread will inevitably get hijacked by discussion of shaving other parts of the body, right? LOL.

I shave everything before competitions. And due to how itchy it can get when it grows, I just remain hairless. And yes it's much cooler, and women seem to love it. Just sayin'...

Hell I might give this a try, the heat is killing me on my long runs. The only problem I might have to get the wife to shave the back, heck I might lose a pound or 2, but what is the itch factor going to be? My biggest problem is nips rubbing when i run over 10 miles, smoke got me to buy body slide which works, I also run in under Armour. navygear.com has amazing Marine Under Armour stuff.

If you keep it shaved, it doesn't itch at all! Actually my chest used to itch from my hair rubbing on runs! It is freaking awesome, like built in air conditioning! I shave my head because it keeps me so much cooler, but I never thought about the rest of my body. For any athlete in the heat, it is soooo worth it! I don't have the problem with my nips cause I don't run that long, but I have heard of taping them or something to that effect.

I like their story about the sponge bob stickeys...LOL!

I shave about every 2 days, but I do it in the shower, so it is easy as hell. It only adds a couple minutes to my shower. Plus, you can see what you are doing, compared to shaving your head. I will give you a warning though. The first couple times you shave, it will probably get a little razor burn in areas, but after your skin gets used to being shaved, you should be good to go! Oh, and use conditioner to soften your hair first. Trust me Toby, it is one of the best things I have done for my running. My last couple runs went much easier because I stayed cooler.
