I just bought one of those PSP Go. I wanted something to keep me busy while trying to recover from surgery. It said on the outside of the box that it comes with three free downloadable games. Socom, ratchet & clank, and little big planet. So I follow the instructions on the box to redeem the games and I keep getting a fatal error. I can't believe I wasted 200$ on this POS....

take it back DB. wait for a 3DS or the NGP. Maybe pick up a used PSP in the meantime, the old style since the Go's didn't work out as well as they had hoped....

This device really looks cool.....I would love to get my hands on it. I just dont do well with portable game systems....The last game I bought for my current psp was mlb06 and that was when it was brand new.....oh I also bought the UMD Resident Evil , (The Second one)....Basically i havent played it in forever. Same woirth my DS, my Neo Geo pocket , and I still have a gameboy advance with Advanced wars...I loved that game.......I just cant ever seem to play portable devices for too long before I tire of them. I will still probably buy this anyway.........

Modnation Racers and Little Big Planet for the PS Vita look pretty cool. And in Uncharted it looked like touch controls actually made platforming easier for a change. Streetfighter x Tekken will also make it's way to Vita and have Cole from inFAMOUS as a playable character
MaximusR3
06-06-2011, 19:59
so PS Vita official pricing is $249 for the Wifi model, and $299 for the 3G version

as an added note about the PS Vita, if you expect you'll be getting one at some point, i highly recommend redeeming the two free psp games offered in the welcome back offer. They have already said that any psp titles from the ps store will be playable on the vita so there are two free games for you. You don't have to actually download the games right now, just select them on the store and download them once you get your vita. Just make sure you select the games in the store prior to when the offer expires next month

Is the Vita supposed to play games from the PSP?
yeah, they said it will be backwards compatible with psp games. The only stipulation is it doesn't have a UMD slot for the physical games so you'll be limited to psp games that are available to download
But the free PSP games we got from customer rewards will work.. so, I'll go ahead and grab the 2 freebies.. yay!

Supposed November 4 launch date
Ign.com
PS Vita Release Date?
Date: Jun 21, 2011
Online retailer Shopto.net has posted a release date of November 4 2011 for Sony's next-generation handheld, the PlayStation Vita. The UK-based retailer has listed Wi-Fi and 3G versions of the console for pre-order, with UK RRP stated as £229.99 and £279.99 respectively.
In pre-order listings, Shop-To has priced games at £40.
At E3, Sony announced that the PS Vita would be launched "in the global market starting the end of 2011", listing the international prices as:
Wi-Fi Model: ¥24,980 (inc. tax), $249 and €249
3G/Wi-Fi Model: ¥29,980 (inc. tax), $299 and €299
Worried about the relative price of Sony's new handheld in your region? We quizzed Michael Denny, Sony's Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe at E3, and he confirmed that - to the best of his knowledge - Vita would be region free.

I think she was expecting a heap more ...all she said was ... well that's what we paid for the first PSP ... and that was it.

as i mentioned in the welcome back program thread, the free games offer is going to expire soon so if you even think you MIGHT get a PS Vita and want two free psp games to play right off the bat I suggest you pick your free games out prior to July 3rd or the offer will expire and you'll get nada
The PlayStation Vita certainly packs in enough technological capabilities, with its impressive hardware and almost-rejected back-panel touch pad. Now, at the Game Tools & Middleware Forum 2011, based in Tokyo, Sony unveiled their facial recognition program which is still a work-in-progress. During the demo, the Vita was used to track heads during a live chat session between two users.
While the actual head-tracking worked flawlessly, swiveling and turning with the presenter on stage and his compatriot, it was clear that the decision to add the ability to track blinks needs some work. There were noticable half-blinks and strange eye mechanics that stood out, but if the facial recognition receives the needed polish, it’ll become an impressive feature that many webcam programs themselves haven’t had the gusto to attempt.

Looks like we'll be getting the Vita here in the USA starting February 22, 2012.
Sony has finally announced when gamers outside of Japan will be able to get their hands on a PlayStation Vita. The PS Vita will ship in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and Latin America on February 22, 2012. That means that American gamers will be playing the Vita a scant 3 months later than their Japanese counterparts. Sony has said that there are over 100 games in development for the Vita, including some heavy hitters like Uncharted, Call of Duty and Resistance. The PS Vita will set you back $249 for the standard WiFi only model or $299 for the AT&T 3G Model.

Starting January 26th through March 11th, one winner will be selected EVERY 15 MINUTES!
The folks at Taco Bell are eager to give you three ways to win your very own PS Vita: Unlock, Battle or Boast. Here’s a quick breakdown:
UNLOCK THE BOX: Beginning January 26th, Taco Bell’s specially marked $5 Buck Box – which includes a Cheesy Gordita Crunch, Crunchy Taco, Burrito Supreme and medium fountain drink – will also provide a code that can be entered online for an instant chance to “unlock” and win a PS Vita.
BATTLE: Download Taco Bell’s new mobile app to check out the exclusively designed Reality Fighters Dojo game where you can “battle” your friends to win a PS Vita.
BOAST

Regardless of whether you win with an Unlock, Battle or a Boast, your prize pack will include one PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi system, one copy of the PS Vita exclusive Little Deviants (http://blog.us.playstation.com/tag/little-deviants/)

Awesome Q&A regarding Mortal Kombat for PS Vita, courtesy of the PlayStation.Blog.
Mortal Kombat For PS Vita: Ed Boon Talks Touchscreen Fatalities, New Challenge Tower
The good news: Mortal Kombat is coming to PS Vita! The bad news: Details are so scarce that we haven’t seen so much as a single screenshot! Luckily, Netherrealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon emerged from the shadows to share first details with PlayStation.Blog readers, including the existence of a PS Vita-exclusive second Challenge Tower and hints at how the game will take advantage of PS Vita‘s unique hardware capabilities. Read up on our full Q&A below and check back soon for more details on this spring’s eagerly anticipated portable pugilist.
PlayStation.Blog: What’s the scope of Mortal Kombat for PS Vita? Does it include all the content from the PS3 game?
Ed Boon, Creative Director, Netherrealm Studios: It’s actually everything from the PS3 game: the entire Story Mode and all the downloadable characters and content, plus additional modes and features that are tailored for PS Vita. We really wanted to take advantage of Vita’s hardware.
PSB: How have the graphics transitioned to PS Vita? Did you have to make any major graphical sacrifices from the PS3 version?
EB:It’s interesting. We did have to reduce some of the polygon counts from the backgrounds and characters, but that screen is so bright, and it’s got such high pixel density…when I saw Scorpion and Sub-Zero fighting on the Living Forest for the first time, I was amazed. It really maintains the identity of the game. I can’t wait for people to hold it in their hands and see it for themselves — it’s a surprisingly similar experience.
PSB: Will the PS Vita version keep the PS3 version’s smooth 60 fps framerate?
EB: Yeah. We wouldn’t accept any compromises there; we needed the game to run at the same framerate as the PS3 version. A number of our internal people proposed running it at 30 frames per second — “we could do this and this and that” — but we knew it would feel different. We didn’t want it to feel sluggish or unresponsive.
PSB: What makes a good mobile fighting game? Obviously, playing habits are different in a mobile environment.
EB: The fundamental necessity is quick access to gameplay, whether it’s online or locally. The mobile gaming experience is shorter bites of time. We identified the Challenge Tower as a perfect fit for mobile sessions, so we expanded it greatly for PS Vita. There are actually two Challenge Towers in the PS Vita version, and the new one has 150 challenges that are exclusive to PS Vita. A number of those challenges use PS Vita’s hardware features: the touch screen, the accelerometer…
PSB: …rear touchscreen?
EB: The rear touchscreen functionality was something that we experimented with, but we ultimately opted not to pursue. We really went to town on the front touchscreen interaction, though, both in the challenges and normal gameplay. A lot of work went into it.
PSB: So how does a touchscreen come into play in Mortal Kombat?
EB: In terms of gameplay, we’ve always wanted MK to be as accessible as possible. For example, you can touch your X-ray meter to execute an X-ray attack. For fatalities, you can “slash” the screen with the appropriate inputs — say, away, away, up — to execute the fatality. It makes some of the more difficult fatalities easier and it’s fun to slash at your screen to fire off a fatality. I was surprised by how engaging it is.
PSB: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has a dedicated touchscreen-only mode for more casual players. Are you planning anything along those lines?
EB: We goofed around with ideas like that. It was an interesting novelty at first, but literally everybody who tried it said “oh, that’s cute” and then went right back to the normal control scheme. There’s a lot of precision with the “slicing” mechanic, though, so it works well for fatalities.
PSB: Can you shed any light into how the accelerometer or sixaxis motion controls work in the new PS Vita-centric Challenge Tower?
EB: I’ve been asked not to completely reveal all of the details yet…But in the new Challenge Tower, there are challenges that are unique to PS Vita’s capabilities. Over the years we’ve had Test Your Might, Test Your Luck, Test Your Sight…well, we’ve added two completely new ones for PS Vita. We’ll be revealing those soon, and they will take advantage of the accelerometer and other features.
Those extra 150 Challenge Tower missions are tons of fun. Imagine tilting your PS Vita and affecting gravity in the game, things like that…
PSB: Mortal Kombat is a highly competitive fighter. What’s your approach to multiplayer on PS Vita?
EB: We tried to put all the main things that people would want to do for hooking up with other players online; you can fight one-on-one whether you’re in local Wifi or online [infrastructure] Wifi. There aren’t any eight-player online fighting modes, though, and we aren’t supporting four players in one match. Our focus was getting the core fighting gameplay and Wifi battles as solid as possible.
PSB: Will Mortal Kombat feature any PS3-to-PS Vita connectivity or cross play functionality?
EB: No. We’ve been working with PS Vita for quite a while. We had a lot of conversations about what we could do with it; I thought it would be cool to have an extra bonus for players who bought both the PS3 and PS Vita versions. We talked about unlocking a new character, or having some sort of new mode that enabled you to control the game from your PS Vita…but unfortunately, it’s coming up on a year since the PS3 version came out and we never found a way to marry the two versions together.
PSB: Finally, the game’s official name is Mortal Kombat, right? I know there were rumors of “Mortal Kombat Vitality…”
EB: Yes, it’s Mortal Kombat. “Vitality” was something that somebody mocked up at some point, and it kind of stuck [laughs]. But yes, it’s just called Mortal Kombat.

Just picked mortal kombat for the vita. It's pretty badass. It has all dlc included so i been playing with Freddy krueger and kratos the most. I will say the graphics can be a little better but it was needed to maintain a 60fps which is essential for fighting games.
