I just got the greatest news ever!

So my mom called me from texas saying that the Navy recruiter out there (I just moved to cali.) came by and wanted to talk too me about my ASVAB scores and said I was a few point shy of a Nuclear program. They asked me to retake my ASVAB so I was wondering do your ASVAB scores go into a master data base for all recruiters or only to the local recruiters?

If I remember correctly it's available for all recruiters to see. Just let them know you took it and they should be able to get the scores with no problem. Congrats on the score btw.

All recruiters and if u have any questions about the navy, let me know I been in fo 6 1/2 years, but I dont know anything about being on the ship u might have to ask squidfamily.

Like the ones I have been tole such as don't take nuclear subs as a job choice, cause you won't have kids. Or AWACS cause you'll only have girls. I can prove the AWACS one as true. :D

In my experience, none of the so called unfiltered stories are true anyway.
Whatever the case is, take everything you hear with a grain of salt. I spent 4 years on an Aircraft Carrier, and I can tell you for certain, no matter what you choose, their will be good times, and their will be bad times, just like everything in life.

I choose to not go nuke, for the simple fact of committment. Nuke sounds great, but I believe the minimum hitch is 6 to 8 years. You can always do 4 years, and re-enlist but you cannot cut short a commitment. Just remember that.

I am looking more towards corps. men, master at arms, or aircraft engineer any ways. and one of those stories was a warrant officer falling overboard. (there are worse but ill spare)

Yes u may be voluntold to go with the marines but I can't wait to get back with them. It use to be choice to go greenside but you can get picked to go that's the honest truth, the respect the marines have for you is unexplainable. I'm sure any of the marines here will tell u they have the utmost respect for the corpsmen. Your A school will be in san Antonio Texas where I'm stationed at right now as an instructor with the army and airforce. I'm not being bias but if you plan on going to the medical field the navy corpsmen is the best out of all services.

All 3 of those equate to good jobs after your enlistment. So solid choices on all 3. I was an IC2, or an electrician, which helped immensely after I got out of the Navy and got in to an IT career. Unless your planning to be a lifer, its always good to think about what you want to do after you get out, so you can keep some perspective.

Falling overboard is a way of life in the Navy, yes it happens more then you hear about. And yes, If you fall off the fantail, no worries, but anywhere else, you may get pulled into the screws depending on the speed of the ship. Usually not an issue for most on the ship, unless you work on the flight-deck, where this danger is always imminent due to jet blast or rotor wash.

I think it really depends on how you do in "A" School. For me, the better you did in class, the closer to the top you were to picking afterschool orders. (Do great in school, you pick orders first, do shitty, and you'll pick last.)

Very much this. Even if you are already decided to be a lifer, always keep an eye on where your mos will translate to real life skills. Because you never know when you will be looking for a job on the outside.

I want to be a lifer but in the event that something happens in my first 4 years I want some experience with another job.
