According to legend, the burger was named for and was a favorite (and possibly invention) of singer-songwriter and record producer Luther Vandross.[1] This origin is mentioned in a January 2006 episode of animated series The Boondocks, "The Itis", in which the character Granddad creates an entire restaurant based on the burger (and other soul food).[2]

Mulligan's, a suburban bar in Decatur, Georgia, serves the Luther Burger in addition to their "hamdog", a hotdog which is wrapped in a beef patty and deep-fried.[1]

The Gateway Grizzlies of St. Louis, from the Frontier League (an independent baseball league not affiliated with Major or Minor League Baseball), have started serving the Luther Burger, which, in their version, is a deep-fried Krispy Kreme donut filled with a black Angus all-beef patty, melted cheese, and two strips of bacon. Dubbed a cardiologist's worst nightmare, this burger is 1,000 calories, and aside from bringing in revenue from sales, it has drawn more fans to come out to the ballpark: apparently, attendance at games has increased and the burger is one of the most popular aspects of the park. The burger has met with criticism from burger purists and from people who are turned off by the thought of the taste and the health implications.

nothing wrong with deep frying random food items, just let me cross a few off your list that i have tried and do not work out so well:

String cheese, chilled, rolled in egg then Italian bread crumbs. Coat 3 times, deep fry until golden brown and shazaam! giant mozzarella sticks :mrgreen:

Alright, so this thread has officially decided my first day's meals once I return from the NCO Academy here at Ft Huachuca. A Luther Burger for breakfast and a KFC thing for lunch with the fried ice cream for dessert (topped with fried twinkies and fried snickers of course). It'll probably all come back up later because of the grease and sugar, but oh well... it sounds like it would be worth it.

Well I went to KFC today after work and go one of these. That is a LOT of chicken!!! :lol: Kinda reminded me of chicken cordon bleu except with bacon instead of ham. I also feel like I just gained five pounds. I went with the potato wedges too. So it was ok not the greatest sandwich ever. Would I get it again yes but not very often.

Although I'm sure it's quite tasty, those look like Elephant turds stuck between two buns with melted cheese on them. I'm not trying to be a dick mind you I'm just saying not all food that tastes good necessarily looks good.
