Without getting into the full story of my stupidity on this one I'll make the scenario brief. While loading a truck tonight I misjudged my footing and fell between the gap from the truck to the loading dock. I landed on my entire left calf stopping just below the knee and i know it'll be bruised for a while. Any suggestions on how to care for it so I'm not hobbling around for weeks? And before you say it, yes i know the dock plate should have been set up. It's broken right now but after this it won't be for much longer. :D

Substitute cold and hot compresses every 20 min, but do not apply directly to skin. Bruising and swelling should go down. Also keep your leg elevated while doing this. You can also take some motrin for the pain and swelling

I'm getting my knee checked out now. Looks like the doc wants an x-ray/MRI. I really hope I don't need surgery.
