Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) is an online FPS based game currently in development by Valve Software and Hidden Path Entertainment, who also co-developed Counter-Strike: Source. It is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike franchise, excluding Counter-Strike: Neo and Counter-Strike: Online.
Global Offensive is targeted for release in early 2012, and will be available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network and Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade. It will contain classic content, such as old maps, and brand new maps, characters and game modes. Also, it will support matchmaking and leaderboards.[1] Cross-platform multiplayer is confirmed between PC, Mac and PS3 players.[2] The PS3 version will offer three control methods using the DualShock 3 controller, PlayStation Move or USB keyboard/mouse.
Sweet!! i love the cross talk on systems so it doesnt matter which system u buy for!! AWESOME!! it will be nice when all games for Multi r like this!!
CS went to crap when it went retail, was far better when it was just a half-life mod.
Will be interesting how this goes.

Valve has not mentioned about Counter Strike Global Offensive is a free to play game or not and its release date will be in early 2012 and it is going to be available for PC and Consoles.

I was playing CS before 1.0, it went retail and packaged as a seperate product when Valve hired the 3 guys who where making the Half-Life MOD / bought the CS name from them.
The MOD or Game if you like, was turning out to be a wonderful and fun experience, with a HUGE LAN party following, then Valve got their hands on it and it went to shit.
All this was going on in the 1998-2000 time frame.A group of us in High School had started a series of local LAN partys here in Birmingham. Our largest events where the CS and Quake 2/3 tourneys, with about 200 attendees in the beginning and peaking at 450 before the proliferation of MMOs and broadband internet.

I started playing in 2002. I ended when my PC fried in an unfortunate fire sprinkler accident

Cross platform gaming sounds awesome. Then you'd really always have someone to play with. Only thing I hate about CS is when dickheads own servers or whatever and have dickhead admins. Or those stupid Warcraft or whatever games. I just wanted to play a legitimate game. To much bullshit going on now
