Tsk, tsk, tsk. If you're gonna claim military experience, be honest about what you actually did and be prepared to back it up.

In light of last week's report that Deadliest Warrior studio head Robert Daly had misrepresented his military experience, Daly has resigned as head of Pipeworks Software. In a statement issued this afternoon, Daly expressed regret at having "misrepresented my role by creating the impression that I was a 'Green Beret.'" He further added that he has "nothing but the utmost respect for the Green Berets and my fellow servicemen."
Daly also won't be appearing on future episodes of Deadliest Warrior, the Spike television show. "At this point in time for the best interests of Pipeworks Software and F9E [Foundation 9 Entertainment] I am voluntarily resigning my position of Studio Head of Pipeworks effective immediately," he said. "Furthermore, I have no plans on appearing in any more episodes of Deadliest Warrior."

it's good that he had the decency to admit it and sort of bow his head in shame, but it's unfortunate that it had to be this way at all, I can't imagine saying he was a green beret is the thing that landed him the job anyways. no matter what your service entailed, there's no reason not to just be honest about it. You don't have to pretend you were something you weren't, you were special forces, sworn to secrecy about stuff, or learned illegal ninja moves from the government just to look cool, just be proud of what you did do.

Agreed. And if you have to glorify your service by making shit up, then you clearly chose the wrong path and have some regrets, but DONT muddy the legacy of the brotherhood you claim to be apart of. You wanna be SF? Go to SFAS and earn it.

Okay, I went and double checked, and apparently it's the new computer guy. Which means being a Green Beret had nothing to do with his job there. Weaksauce.

Yeah, he's the guy who they turn to at the end of the show, that plugs in numbers so they can do their comparisons. Apparently he's done work on a couple of video games, including the deadliest warrior game.

This was his explanation:
"I am honored to have served with the 12th Special Forces Group as an Intelligence Analyst (96B) from 1991 until 1994. While I wore the green beret as part of my uniform, I utterly regret that I have misrepresented my role by creating the impression that I was a "Green Beret." I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Green Berets and my fellow servicemen, and I respectfully apologise to the Special Forces community. wtf? I would have been happy to say I even worked along side them in a special forces unit, that sounds pretty cool in it's own right, there's no reason to have been padding his story.

I worked with 5th group all the time and never got a green beret! LOL... plus the direct support guys wear Maroon berets at the 101st, with 5th group. Weird... Maybe it was different in the 90's
I have a friend at Ft. Bragg in PsyOps and he works with SF and Rangers. He didnt get handed a fucking Green or Tan beret. This guy is full of it. To wear the Green Beret you have to pass SFAS and even then your not handed a Green Beret, you have to be selected to a team. So I call SHENANIGANS on him "wearing" a green beret alongside SF, they arent just given out.
