PS3 Advice

Hi,
I had the PS3 for about 6 months but this is my first time playing online got some questions. Now first I'm not trying to start the console wars again. with mics I tried a bluetooth didn't seem to work so I got a wired one. The audio keeps breaking up, what does eveyone else use?

2nd since the PS3 is like a computer should I have some setting done for better gaming.

Now I will say graphics are better on the PS3, Xbox 360 easier plug and play for most hardware. Plus how do you guys text so fast on the PS3?

Some people have the Bluetooth keyboard remote attachment not me but it's available. So what was wrong with your Bluetooth? Did you change the mic output in audio device settings. The ps3 is a little complex with all the settings but you'll get used to it

I use a USB keyboard to type on the PS3,

sometimes its not even the mic thats the problem with the VOIP, It can be the programming in the game itself.

ok last night when we were playing about 6 USMG clan the voice keep going in and out, just wondering if this is just the game? Since you need to talk in BF to move as a team.

Thanks I'm going to order the keypad I have the same thing on the 360. I'm going to try to get on today but then we leave for Washington DC for the weekend, I'm going to try to run the Marine Corps marathon plan on taking a couple of days off nest week to recover and just play BF3 all day.

If you are referring to the mic in BF3, than it is the game. The mic system is very choppy at the moment. Hopefully they fix it soon. Normally PS3 games have great mic quality.

as said by ironhide and Sav, mic quality is game specific on PS3. when you go into the audio device settings you can hear what your mic is going to optimally sound like but it comes down to the game developers for the end quality (or lack thereof) for example, every Call of Duty game i've ever played on PS3, the mics have always sounded a bit fuzzy and they don't seem to have any intention of ever clearing it up. I didn't used to notice it too much until I started using the PS3 voice chat room and realizing how clear it could be and then going back to mw2 and seeing how I could hardly understand some people through the fuzz. Borderlands was also pretty bad, depending on your connection speed. You'll see it most often on multi platform games, especially when the 360 is the lead platform. It's built in on the 360 so devs don't have to worry about it so when they port it to ps3 they're like oh s@!% we have to code it ourselves? and often times laziness ensues.

with the texting, some people do use keyboards; you can use any usb keyboard (and mouse on the web browser), bluetooth keyboards, or the controller add on thumb pad if you'd like. Personally I just use the regular controller d-pad and I have just gotten used to it, speed comes with practice lol.

not really much needs to be done to optimize settings. There are some router settings that may help but since you've already got your 360 set up, chances are you've already got your router set up well enough. I put my ps3 in the dmz but it's not really necessary, same goes with port forwarding; it may help but chances are if upnp is enabled it should be fine like that

Thanks everyone It sounds like it the game with the mic quality, I'm looking into one of the keyboard options, Wireless is great perks of wife working for Cisco system we get the latest gaming wireless router every year and her tech's set it up for me for the fastest gaming.
