View Full Version : Learning French
I just started learning French and just curious if anyone else here speaks it or wants to learn with me, I dont know anyone who does and it would be good practice.
I'm trying to learn as well. My wife is French Canadian and it would be nice to surprise her by speaking in her native language. I have Rosetta Stone but finding the time is difficult.

I've heard bad things about RS, I'm more than willing to help you practice if you want, but I'm not at a conversational level. I use BBC's 12 steps at the moment, also got a university site with free, public online lessons. Wouldn't hurt to bookmark a french-english dictionary site either. I'm catching on rather fast since I speak spanish already so if you already know one romance language it helps.

Maybe mixing other resources with RS would help. I don't know how it works, but everyone learns differently.
I have RS for Spanish and maybe it's me but I had a hard time with it. It seemed like I'd learn a little and hit the ceiling of my understanding, then I'd quit. I really need to get back into it. Can't really give it a bad review though cause I did learn from it
