Billy Harper of Sucker Punch Studios (inFamous) tweeted this link in his feed. I posted the IGN article about it, plus the trailer that is mentioned.

New PS3 Exclusive: The Last of Us
Come see the chilling teaser.
December 3, 2011

The Spike TV Video Game Awards are just a week away, but the news is already starting to flow from the show. The folks behind the broadcast have been promoting the fact that a PlayStation 3 exclusive would debut there, and today, a teaser trailer for that game -- The Last of Us -- has been posted.

It's not much to go on as it uses real footage from various riots and tragedies -- a September 11th clip jumped out at me -- but it sounds like some kind of post-apocalyptic title based on the narrator wishing for normal parts of everyday life. The website for The Last of Us features another video that's just an ant crawling around on a plant.

What do you think of the trailer? What's this game going to be about and who is making it? Let us know your theories in the comments below.

I dunno. Giant ants attacking? Perhaps another zombie infestation? Ronald McDonald being revealed as the anti-Christ? What say ye?

Here's the video. Website and source links follow.

just please don't be zombie related. I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooo freaking zombied out at this point and could use something new. I'm starting to feel about zombie games the way i feel about WWII shooters, been way too many of them and enough is seriously enough, time to move the heck on already.

Not to say any other plot bases are any more original, like the post apocalyptic wasteland routine but nothing feels as played out as zombies these days.

Just based off the video and title though, I'm going to guess it involves survival of a small group in a wasteland after a catastrophic event

Welp, they debuted the game tonight on the VGA awards. The video is not on YouTube just yet, but you can see it here: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/12/10/naughty-dog-reveals-the-last-of-us-at-2011-vgas/

DAMN IT!!!!!!!!
FUNGUS ZOMBIES?!?!?! COME ON, ENOUGH ZOMBIES ALREADY!

Zombies are as overused as the "C-130 rolling down the strip" running cadence

I do enjoy the overrun by nature look of the city though, so at least there is still one interesting aspect so far

Youtube clip. Apparently it's lifted directly from a PS3. If so, that's mildly impressive.

Even the most casual of video game fan knows just how heavily relied upon zombies have become over the past few years. With the chances for interesting new mechanics or character designs dwindling by the month, there is one game that has brought new hope to fans of corrupted human beings: The Last of Us.

While the game still remains shrouded heavily in mystery, the two protagonists of The Last of Us are gracing the cover of the March issue of Game Informer. The result may be just a single image from within the game’s world, but it once again shows that this game may not be what people expect.

When we know so little about The Last of Us – a game quickly becoming one of our most anticipated – every bit of information we can glean is that much more precious. Thanks to a few brand new screenshots and details, an Eastern seaboard setting and a mix of melee and shooting combat can be confirmed, as can the engine behind the game’s gorgeous visuals.

For about a week (at the time of this writing), we’ve known that Game Informer would be featuring Naughty Dog’s next triple-A video game release, The Last of Us, on the cover of its March issue.

Now, with the issue nearing newsstands, and the unveiling of fresh Last of Us images, we’re also getting new details from the magazine spread regarding what players can expect from the story as well as the rumored (now confirmed) online play.

When The Last of Us was first revealed, many were excited to see what Naughty Dog would be working on after a trilogy of Uncharted games. The more skeptical gamers however, worried that the title would turn out to be just “another zombie game.” While that still remains to be seen, it the game’s combat system promises to be a departure from what players are used to.

When The Last of Us made its much-hyped debut on the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards, many viewers (myself included) wondered aloud whether the game’s protagonist was, in fact, an older version of Uncharted‘s Nathan Drake. The bearded, grizzled figure in the trailer bore enough of a resemblance to Nolan North’s most famous character for the notion to seem at least plausible.

Even if you don’t own a PlayStation 3, it’s hard not to get excited about Naughty Dog’s latest project, The Last of Us. The upcoming platform-exclusive aims to be the quintessential mix of thrilling zombie apocalypse survival adventure, heartfelt story, and innovative gameplay.

Hey man i actually watched some trailers on this after talking to you about it. It looks pretty sweet and i might have to pick it up. The gameplay i saw is deffinitely interesting looking. I like how alot of the qobjects in the game seem to be interactable. Love the video where it shows the guy beating the other guys head in with a brick.

That sucks, I get texts when things are coming in. I'm lucky enough to have built a relationship with the manager and most of the employees at my local GameStop on base, so they usually hold things aside for me or give me a call to let me know something came in I might be interested in.

@ mardigra that is what I thought but just didn't seem right to me because that is a Friday. Wonder why they decided that day?

@ ghost I used to have a good relationship with the gm and assistant at the GameStop I go to but the gm got fired and the assistant whom I was good friends with graduated college and got a good paying job so I was happy for him. I am slowly but surly building up a relationship with the two that are there now but it is one of those build a new friendship games.

believe me I'm not looking forward to the time when I change stations or he moves. This guy is a great asset to the military gamers her at JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, he never try's to shove things he knows won't interest you down your throat to make a sale.

That's nice man. The people here at fort huachuca are decent. A sales associate here is pretty awesome but the GM is kind of a bitch not very much fin to talk to. If I go into the store and she is working I just browse then leave I won't buy anything from her.

Oh man Havok, you HAVE to finish this game. This game gets my "Game of a Lifetime" achievement. I was so moved by the story. I know people are sick of the zombie genre and all, but it's the story, and the depth, and the characters that just bring so much to this game. Play this game. If you own a PS3, it is a mortal sin to not experience this game.

I have played the multiplayer a bit, but it is hard. You have to move slow and methodical, and it really helps to have a good team. This is what I think they wanted Gears of War to be. Using cover, and moving slow. Being punished for quick moves. Sadly, I am into the BF4 multiplayer, but if you want to give this a shot sometime, give me a shout. I wouldn't mind changing things up for a night or two.

I didn't get the DLC because like I said, I am not too addicted to the mutliplayer, but single player DLC is planned for next year and I will be ALL OVER THAT!!!

This video is the best. Anytime I watch it, I want to play some more. Watch it and feel that pull to re-enter this world. I know you get emotionally and psychologically drained playing this game, but the experience of the story is worth it.
