Very interesting news story about making the corps becoming smaller and lighter.

Yeah it seems to make perfect sense.

However, this will require the powers-that-be don't fuck things up again and create situations where the Army is so overstressed. The Marines didn't turn into an occupational force because of preference; things transpired this way because political leaders bit off more than they could chew. That's no knock on the Army at all, and I've heard Marines say "Oh we're doing it because the Army can't do their job", but that's bullshit. It's because of poor planning up top. If we don't change that, this will happen all over again in the future.
