I'm not sure what Jack meant, but I personally think that Marvel universe based games need their "Arkham". G4 says this game will have a more "open world format" (http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/719008/amazing-spider-man-trailer-surprise-the-robots-are-taking-over/).
I grew up on Spider-man and now they're trying to turn him into Superman. in the comics, he never took on a massive city destroying robot (styled after Martian invasion drone/harvester). The one time he did, was in a future what if scenario and he was vaporized on the spot. Spider-man just wasn't that kind of hero... but here's Marvel, trying to do just that.

Arkham as in free roam? Or Arkham as in massive popularity spike? They've already done the former, and this seems to be improved more of the same. As for the latter, we'll have to wait and see if it spikes the popularity.

Are you sure about that? I mean, growing up on Spider-man and all, you've clearly heard of the Spider-slayers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Slayer)....or read of him fighting against Sentinels...as such (http://www.bonanza.com/listings/the-AMAZING-SPIDER-MAN-415-vs-SENTINELS-Sept-1996/11902476).
They're doing nothing of the sort. Hyperbole is cool and all, but nothing they've shown is some brand new thing that has never happened before.

No, he was pretty much doing exactly that in all those instances. Soloing them, that is.

I seem to remember Spidey as the King of the Superhero Team-Up, there wasnt much he did do on his own.

He was....but he's also largely the king of kicking ass without a team, as well. He's the one you have other superheroes team up with, in order to legitimize them somewhat and make them a little bit better.

I always loved the Sinister Six story arcs, there was one along time ago when the Six all got smart and "Suped up" theyre collective powers, Electro amped up his abilities, Doc Ock plated his tentacles in adamantium, etc. That was a great run.

That one was pretty awesome. I remember a weird one, kind of out of left field, that had one of those "everyone team with Spiderman" bits, was like 6 guys, all I remember was Punisher and some moon dude in a white hooded robe. Think Daredevil may have been in there too, can't remember.
God I wish my collection hadn't been sold on me :(
YES! the Round Robin story arc! It had Punisher, MoonKnight, Nova, Night Thrasher and Darkhawk! Good run that one
For fans of web-slinging action games, the past few years have given plenty of choices for play experiences. Even if they’ve almost all come from developer Beenox, and ranged from spectacular and refreshing to run-of-the-mill and forgettable. Peter Parker is set to challenge past titles with The Amazing Spider-Man, a tie-in game to the film of the same name. Extensive details or footage is still scarce, but the newest trailer gives players a better idea of what to expect.
