This one debuted on the VGAs last night, and I don't think it's been mentioned yet. The trailer follows this description from G4TV.com.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is the next third-person Transformers installment coming in Fall 2012 from High Moon Studios. The game will follow after the events of Transformers: War for Cybertron, where the heroic Autobots are once again trying to fight the Decepticons in a battle for Cybertron. Check out the surprisingly awesome first cinematic trailer for the action-packed game below.

Details on the game are still a bit slim, but we do know that the game will feature updated appearances for all of the Transformers, and that there will be some sort of "classes" this time around, with Optimus being more of a Warrior archetype. What did you think of the trailer?

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be out in Fall 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

High Moon Studios Talks ‘Transformers: Fall of Cybertron’s’ Adult Tone
May 7, 2012 by Anthony Taormina

When the first trailer for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron hit during the Spike VGAS fans knew exactly what they were getting. Though it might have been displayed using CGI rather than in-game footage, the Fall of Cybertron trailer set a tone for the game to come that was clear and pretty harrowing.

In the trailer, for those that haven’t seen it, Cybertron is depicted in a state of all-out war, with the Autobots fighting to survive and the Decepticons fighting to destroy. As was said, this is a trailer not for the younger Transformers fan but for the one who grew up with Hasbro’s franchise and are now much more mature.

Speaking with [a]list daily, Marketing Manager for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Greg Agius talks a little bit about the trailer – it’s choice of music and tone specifically – and sheds some light onto the High Moon Studios‘ think tank.

“We wanted Transformers fans and gamers to take a fresh look at our game. For me, we needed to communicate that Fall of Cybertron is an adult oriented game that stands totally apart from anything related to the films. So the team set out to break every rule we could think of for a Transformers trailer: we had zero voiceover, we destroyed main characters, we made the story come to you, and we picked a song that is totally groundbreaking for this franchise. When fans started posting, ‘attention – this is how you do Transformers’ I knew we had done things right. The style and look is all very in line with what gamers are currently playing.”

It’s hard to deny that the trailer was extremely moving, and it did give off the sense that High Moon Studios hadn’t lost a step when moving on to Fall of Cybertron (especially considering a less than desirable movie tie-in was released in between), but this was still a CGI trailer. Many times a game gives off a certain sense via a CGI trailer, with stunning music and visuals, but the finished product never quite delivers on that promise, we’ll just have to see where Fall of Cybertron falls.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron might be a game geared for adults, but it still features a giant transforming dinosaur, and one of its more recent trailers followed the recent trend of using dub step to amp up the action. Like it or not, adults are going to be sharing the Transformers brand with kids for some time to come.

At the end of the day, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron looks great, not matter who is being sold on the product. High Moon has set a precedent with War for Cybertron that is going to be hard to top, but if early looks at the game are any indication then we are in store for another thrilling robot-on-robot adventure.

In my opinion. Another pointless video game to put out there in the market to keep the transformers fans happy

Or an attempt to make a solid game that actually represents the franchise in a positive way.....as opposed to the movie tie-in games. You gotta remember that the same thing could have been said about Madden 12, any CoD or BF game, Batman Begins, or any of a number of significantly successful games or movies that follow a specific IP.

I respect your opinion and all, but I think to blow it off as fan pandering, when significant work has gone in to it in order to make a successful and, more importantly, enjoyable game........something this franchise is relatively light on......is kind of rash.

You gotta play the first game, War for Cybertron, it was a pretty good game and great story line. Great time waster...and one of the games that's make you wanna punch yourself in the face for the difficulty...I'm an achievement whore, so I flat out play all my games in the highest difficult setting...

GUILLERMO SMAAAAASSSSSHHH TAPATALK!!!

So am I, and that's why I tend to stay away from games that I really don't see any value in playing.

Good point. I just can't picture a video game where you're a robot fighting other robots. I don't know but it looks like a game that should have stayed in the 80's on nintendo or super nintendo...hahaha!

What would be bad ass is if they would come out with a movie that goes along with the CoD series. With all the movies dealing with the military, i'm sure a producer could come out with a bad ass movie. I'm not sure if you remember the short films from MWF2 but I watched them I think the producers of those short films could make an intense MWF movie. Here's an example if you haven't seen one.

That would be cool. A duology covering MW 1-3 or Black Ops would be pretty epic.

I can't wait for this game. I'm a big TRANSFORMERS geek. Anyone else getting this or have the previous title?

And to any naysayers, the mechanics in the High moon titles are solid. These aren't movie tie-ins. They are what everyone who likes Transformers had wanted for nearly 30 years. The story line is compelling and accurate. They really did their homework. You couldn't ask for more in the game, really.
