Setting up AKO on Android OS.

I was just wondering if anyone has setup their AKO webmail on their Android OS phones. I just got the new Samsung Stratosphere and I can't seem to get it. I have done everything the web has said with no prevail. Everything is set up like they say but yet I still keep getting the "Authorization Failure" message. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember right instead of setting up the port to 995 it has to be 445. It was a work around that Verizon techs showed me because AKO doesn't allow email egrigaters (? on spelling) and the Droid's are just that.

I just keep hoping they will do something that will make the AKO more me friendly. My unit is dragging its feet on getting us CAC readers for our PC's and call me lazy but I don't want to enter in a 16 digit password. National security is a pain in the ass.

Do they still have the same system where you have to call and get a temporary password so that you can go in and reset your password so that you can log in again just to register your CAC?

That used to drive me up the f'n wall! I'd always have troopies who never bothered to register their cards and they'd always let their passwords expire. They'd get chewed out by their first line leaders about information they needed to read in their AKO mail. Then they'd come to me and ask to use my computer to go through the process I indicated above.

You have to answer 21 (or 15 don't remember now that I have a CAC only log in) security quistions. which of you answer 3 of them if you use a password log in. Yeah, I remember the 7-day passwords and the 21 questions. It didn't help that we had a few people in the unit who didn't own their own computer at home, as well as a couple who couldn't spell AKO. I do NOT miss those days.

I had a few Joes tell me that ako.com, www.ako.com, or the .mil version don't work. and they couldn't get to the newsletter. even a google search for ako brings up the right address. That was the funnest time watching 4 joes do stare bursts across the drill floor for about an hour and then the motorcycle for being late :D

I am still having some trouble with AKO on my Samsung Stratosphere. Every time I get out of WiFi range it will boot me off and make me log back in once on WiFi again. I don't know why it is not picking up my data package when I get out of WiFi range. Such a pain in the testies.

Not to familiar with the Samsung but is there an option for push or fetch? I had that same problem with my iPhone. It was set to fetch and not push. When I changed it to push it stayed connected to AKO with no disconnects. It was a way to tell the phone to use the phone network and not the WiFi network

Manual is the fetch option and every xx interval is the push. If it is sent to the intervalthen that would have been the statement that I made before. If it was set to manual which meaning every time you opened the email is when you would get the emails sent to you try to set to interval
