Yesterday I decided to put a silencer on my ACR while playing HC KC with a group of fellow clan members. Got the tip from a friend of mine that we invited to the game. Apparently even though it shows the drop off in range when you equip it, it doesn't appear to be reflected in the match as I was pecking off enemies from across the map with just a short controlled burst. And the reduced recoil from the silencer obviously aids in accuracy making the long distance shots easier without a noticed drop off in range/damage.
Not sure if this is a glitch in Hardcore that will eventually get patched, but as its not cheating or a hack I just wanted to share.

I have noticed that as well with the assault rifles but with it on an SMG it does shorten the range.

If I'm in the mood for weapon shopping I like to pick up the weapons off the dead. It's gives you a sample of what everybody else seems to prefer. Sometimes I find cool shit.

If you add the two weapon attachment and use the hybrid scope your range will not be decreased at all for the silencer...

I always roll with a can w/red dot on an M4 and Assassin Perk, in core and HC. I like uniformity and a big part of my game is remaining undetected. To compensate for the decrease in range, I'll trow a flashbang real quick so i can advance forward.

As far as I can tell all the weapons are dead accurate when you shoot one round, accuracy is a measure of the kick you get out of it. With the range, past a certain range the weapon gets a penalty where it does less damage, so putting a silencer on just shortens that range. Assault rifles have a much lower penalty than SMGs and light machine guns are lower yet. For shotguns after a certain range they do nothng. In hardcore that difference with a silencer should just going from 2 rounds to kill to 3. Since i tend to lose moving taregets in the muzzle flash because I'm not that good at this game that's a real easy trade off. Theres a bunch of stuff on the interwebs that'll show exactly what the ranges and differences are.
I also like the MP7 smg. despite what the stats show, for some reason it just kills everything way more betterer.

True. If you look up the game mechanics, weapons fire what are known as 'hitscans' - particles of infinite velocity and perfect accuracy that hit exactly where the crosshairs are. Kick only affects successive shots.

Just started using it and it does seem to outperform its stats.

I'm not one to give the enemy a second to react... I run SMGs primarily... pp90, p90, and mp7. I run them with Attachments, Silencer, Rapid Fire, and Steady Aim particularly. I average around 25 kills a match no problem... all you need to do is hip fire in the general direction. Sounds whack but on hardcore when you need to have that split reaction if you don't need to pull your weapon up your good to go.

I've got 3 main classes I make sure I've got set up for hardcore
FAD:
Proficiency: Kick
Attachment: Thermal
Secondary: P99
Perks: Sleight of Hand, Quickdraw, Stalker
Semtex and EMP
Support
ACR or M4:
Proficiency: Attachment
Attachment: Red Dot and Silencer
Secondary: Stinger
Perks: Blind Eye, Assassin, Sitrep
Semtex and EMP
Support
MP7:
Proficiency: Kick
Attachment: Rapid Fire
Secondary: P99
Perks: Scavenger, Quickdraw, Steady Aim
Betty and EMP
Support
FAD setup is for medium-long range maps.
ACR/M4 setup, is for when I know there's going to be a heavy air presence. UAV's, helicopter's, etc.
MP7 for close range maps.
I'm a fan of EMP grenades, largely because of the anti-sentry ability.
My support pack is Advanced UAV, Stealth bomber, and EMP for all three. Sometimes switching out for remote sentry.
