I have used this site before when I was still active reserve. They actually have some really great deals for military compared to sunglass hut. I am pretty sure, you can't get these deals unless you are active military, fireman, or a police officer.

Yeah Oakley must have some influence, most of my local dealers don't carry Wiley-x anymore either. If I have the cash I get most stuff from Blackhawk.

I think the site is actually run by Oakley, that's why

The Standard Issue program was developed by Oakley to get gear out to the soldiers either by purchasing them cheap or getting them issued to the troops in country. Ever seen an Oakley product with "SI" in the name? i.e. Oakley SI Assault Gloves or Oakley SI Assault Boots? Those are product tested out by troops.

Absolutely agree. I have a pair of Oakley Sabot High Boots, the original, not the 2.0's. Had to get them on ebay from England, but totally worth it.

I agree too...But, the wear life on them not so much. Had to replace mine three to four times within a year time frame.

I think so, not 100% on that since I bought them in England.

As with anything it all depends on the paces you put them thru. If you wore them in theater then yea, they went thru the ringer. I wear mine hiking and for foot marches so they hold up pretty well

If your looking for some nice chest rigs, go here:
http://www.tacticaltailor.com/vests-armor/modular?Page=1&Items=9
If your near Ft.Lewis their shop is right outisde the Madigan Gate.

I had a MAV 1 piece, with Bib and X harness. It lasted a 15mo deployment plus all the training rotations afterwords. Still have it today, and use it for the Tac. Shoots here in Bham.

The weight distribution is amazing. I had 300+ 5.56, 80 7.62 Match in 20rd mags, 2 Smoke and 3 frags, embitter radio, PVS14s and a bladder carrier on the back.
All felt much more comfy with this rig, found I had more stamina than if everything was just attached to the vest.

My first pair went thru air assault school a while back, and the second are some where in africa...since then I bought a pair of Rocky's C4 and love them.

Tactical Tailor has some good stuff. I got a great molle pack from them that molle's directly the back of your vest, bridges the gap between hydration carrier and ammo/supply pack

I don't like the Oakley boots. I had a couple pairs of them. Two in one six month tour. (Ground pounding with the Army). They don't breathe well, hold in water, and wear out way too fast. I actually use NIKE boots for around base and wear issued boots when i fly. I love me some Oakley glasses though.

I like the nike too, until they fell apart on me. Nike replaced them for free can't say no to that.

Goggles are ok I guess but I have cracked a few pair. but hey, you can say no to free right. lol. I heard that the Army is getting a different style to replace the IOTV? Never really used one since I was issued something completely different. but have been to a recent army school to see some on the fresh meat, having crazy issues with them. kind of fun some times until your on the ground doing push up because your laughing and not helping. Still worth it if i have to say.

The boot saga continues!

My take on it is that its all to do with where you work, what you do, and your individual style.

Unfortunately, as some in USMG know, paratroopers assigned to the 82nd ABN DIV have no choice. The issued footgear, to me, is hands down the winner. During RFI fielding for the initial deployment to Iraq, we were given the Bellville 720 as a pack in but wore our issue boots (black Bates jungle) with DCU's. Remember, this was DRF-1, 18 hr no notice, so our RFI was putting DCU's in our A bag, grabbing the new boots, new ESS goggles, 2 pair of wiley X, and the new thick ass wick aways. THAT'S IT...we recieved MREs, ammo, patches and the black Ninja sleep suits at green ramp. Later deployments would provide me with all the goodies but not that first one....soooooooo...

Bellville boots suck. Comfy, but can't stand up in the desert. Looks good in garrison...NOTHING beats Bates Jungle, cut out toe and heel cup, shanks removed, and Goodyear ripple sole.Best goddamn boot on earth, beside a pair of highly shined Corcharan II Jump boots full of paratrooper...

The ESS we received were the tank style goggles. Big and built tough, they lasted me still I stole a less scratched pair.
The Wiley X's were by far my favorite RFI item in country bc of the strap conversion and the vents. I still use them on my Harley, day and night.

I've had my hands on everything the Army has thrown at IRQ/AFG, plus, my wife's a Unit Supply....hahaha...

I agree with AD on the Corcoran's, I still have my jump boots and they're still great boots

I'm glad someone else can appreciate these icons of discipline and pride. Although they're not made for anything outside of pay day activities and pass and review, the quality and construction of this U.S made boot is second to none. With only kiwi, water and a BIC lighter the exposed and double reinforced toe and heel cup can be polished so highly it will NEVER require stripping and will only need simple touch-up. The dress sole isn't the most appealing or supportive but is good for the life of the boot, always maintaining that wide and flat shape...damn, I haven't thought about mine in a while...remember when you tucked your fucking pants in them for the first time? With those wings, maroon beret and those boots on? Boy, I arrived that day...

All the way!

Well, I never got the honor of jumping, I was with the 101st Airborne, but we don't jump. We repelled out of UH-60's. Go figure. We still wore the jump boots though, I never really understood that. Tradition I guess. I know there was a small contingent of maroon berets that would jump every now and then.

Dont feel left out I went to AAS before I was able to jump. it's all kickass things to do anyways, so its a win,win either way. I use my Black jump boots for my dress blues every monday when Im at home station.
