Anyone heard anything on what maps are suppose to be coming out with this month? I heard they were gonna be bringing back some maps from mw2 but I can't find anything official.

I've heard rumors of bring back from mw1 and 2. Still nothing posted that I can find though. I wouldn't mind seeing trailer park from 2 and overgrown come back. What was that one map with the two beat up buildings and a statue in the center from 1. That one was insane snipage

I assume you mean Bloc? Level based off of the campaign level One Shot, One Kill? I did not like that map.
A few maps I wouldn't mind to see return but overall some new maps would be nice.

So far Jan 24 for the Park map pack. Nothing else is being confirmed that i can see.

In an interview posted on Joystiq today, Beachhead Studios' Chacko Sonny announced that the iOS version of their Call of Duty: Elite subscription-based service will be launched on the App Store tomorrow, with the Android version not too far behind on January 17. The free app allows Elite subscribers to modify their loadouts, check up on their performance, and track their challenge process through their mobile device.

Originally, the apps were meant to be available sooner, but launch issues delayed the release. "Part of the reason they're not up yet is because we learned a tremendous amount at launch about testing and scaling and making sure that things are at the level that the community really, really wants it to be at before releasing them into the wild," Sonny told Joystiq. "I know that there's frustration and I know that people are waiting for the clan operations component to be in place. But as a development organization, we have to focus on making sure that it's ready to go before we actually release it out into the wild and create more frustration."

Sonny also shed some light on the PC version of Elite, which has yet to launch. "A PC version is definitely still a priority for the studio," he said. "We're heads-down, working on all the stuff that we know the community wants."

I was wondering when these apps were going to drop. Been sort of dissapointed with the slow release and malfunctions of elite, but I suppose they made up wit it by adding the free month to our subscriptions.

The IOS app is the only one that came out so far. It is an iPod/iPhone based app. Not set up for ipad yet although it is usable on it.

The Android app is scheduled for the 24th. Same day as the map packs

My guess is for two reasons.

1) so they can spread the maps out over a year.

and

2) so they can concentrate on making a couple maps of good to awesome quality than a bunch of crap ones.

But that's my theory.

I think it is pure marketing. For people that are not premium Elite holders, you have to buy the maps. Usually when the maps come out it costs around 15-20 bucks. I am curious to see what these costs....

Yes it is marketing but its smart marketing. I couldnt even tell you how much money I have out in the COD games. The main reason I got Elite and talked my wife into letting me get it was that I wouldnt have to buy any of the maps this year.

They are supposed to be releasing the same number of maps (roughly). Elite members will get them monthly. Everyone else can buy them in larger map packs every few months. That's what I read when they were first promoting Elite.

There is another side of the premium elite = free dlc thing. Less trade-ins to Gamestop/Bestbuy/wherever. By spreading out the dlc and having already paid for it, people will probably hold on to their copies longer so they don't feel ripped off. That should equate to less used copies on the market and more people buying new ones.

I don't remember where I read it but it said that premium are the testers to it. We will test them and work the kinks and bugs out and then finalize for everyone else in bigger packs

That kinda sucks, I didnt pay 60 bucks to beta test their maps. I hope they got most of the kinks out before they throw them our way

They usually cost about $15 bucks but you get 4 or 5 maps. People keep saying that the non-Premium people will be able to get the maps about a week later. There is no way I would ever pay 15 bucks for only two maps. I am curious to see how much they plan on charging non-premium members for the new map packs, especially when they are supposed to be letting new maps out to the market every few months for like the next 9 months or so.

Yes, premium get all DLC while they are premium members. All DLC released in the map packs will have been already released to premium members - those buying it in the map packs will just be able to purchase it later.

They're out for elite premium members, got it last night at midnight. So far they're very well done. No complaints aside from getting used to them. My only gripe is with the Elite lobby. They could have left out the old maps and stuck with the new ones. Aside from that well done.

No pure HC KC...only way to play it on new maps is by choosing the lobby with all the other game types rotated in.

oh that sucks....oh well i guess i will atleast knock out some achievements from the other game modes i never play....I have been sitting at the office trying to watch youtube videos so I have a little knowledge on the maps....cant wait to get off work.
