Xbox WiFi

Next week (22nd), i'll be on the road with my Xbox. I already confirmed the hotel I am staying in has free WiFi and the ability to hook my Xbox up to the TV. My question is, how good is the internal WiFi in the newer 'slim' Xbox? Do you think I will have lag issues and is so should I being a cable with me? All help is appreciated. Thanks

I'll answer your last question first which is "yes". I'd always take a cable and use it versus Wi-Fi, since it tends to be more secure.

I've only had my Xbox for a little while and think the WiFi in it is very good. Your problem will lie in the hotel's WiFi service. It's been my experience that most public places that offer free WiFi generally have slower connections. For example, during my family's stay at Disney World, the speed was right around 1 Mbps (versus 15 Mbps on my home's Road Runner connection). That may or may not affect your Xbox's lag issues, if any.

I often wonder if I am doing myself a disjustice using wifi or split screen ect. I'm no genius but when ever I play in my bedroom(which has cat5 conn.) vs. down in my living room(wifi) I seem to put up much better numbers. I can use any help I can get.

Ive never played on WiFi, but I notice when I use Cat 5 I always have full bars. I can't stand playing split screen. I guess I'll take a cable with me and hope for the best....

Sorry to say but you'll get frustrated. I have done this about 20 times. Now when I'm at a hotel that has wired good high-speed without a firewall that slows it done you'll be ok. But if its a Hampton, Hilton garden inn or something like this don't waste the time and effort.Now when I go to NYC or the Jersey city office no problem. this is good,at last years all hands meeting the tech guys brought there 360's and I brought mine at night we would go and hook them up to the rear project full screen, that usually shows the slide we are discussing so we were playing 4 on 4 COD BO(only had 4 big screens) its was a blast had the hotel deliver food & drink, I think we played past midnight every day

Well, I'll give it a shot anyways. If I have issues I'll talk to hotel management and see if they can hook me up or something

Yeah, i think I am going to bring a Cat 5 just in case. I'll probably need to talk to hotel management to get me past any firewalls i may encounter.
