Hey everyone just trying to a little discussion. I know everyone hates school blah blah blah, but I just finished my CCAF through AMU and it's probably one of the easiest things I've ever done. Just trying to get a feel for people out there and if anyone else is taking classes through them. I figured we could post some easy classes possibly easy instructors etc to help a "homie" out! I just finished American Government and it was probably the easiest class I've ever taken (8 discussion boards and 2 10 question tests for a mid-term and final) and that was that. Anyways just trying to help out the betterment of the clan! Wo0t

What degree are you taking? I have many friends who have used them, so I can ask them for you. I decided not to go through AMU given their course structure, but they do offer some decent programs, like strategic intelligence.
You can also search ratemyprofessor.com and check out the AMU professors to find out which ones are easy so you can pick them.

This reminds me about all the correspondence classes I need to take through AKO(army university) for my promotion points. My supply sgt. just briefed us about sending in all of our military schooling(bct, air borne, leadership, ect.) to army U and they will transfer that into college credit. He said after he did that he only took 1 term to get his AAOT degree. If anyone has better details of this please add for I wasn't listening very well. I joined up to get dirty not smart.

I graduated last year with an associates degree in database application development from AMU.
If you have a science course requirement, I highly recommend meteorology. It's not hard at all and is actually very informative. I legitimately learned a lot from it.
Definitely get a copy of your AARTS transcripts downloaded and have a copy mailed to the school if you apply. Some of the training you've taken adds up for credits. I'd have to go dig up my transcripts to tell you exactly what I was credited for though.

I'm going with information technology. Just figured I'd start working with my brain after the military since working with my hands tends to take it's toll eventually. More money in the computer shit too. I've heard about ratemyprofessor a little too late on the mere fact I'm registered for all my classes! lol shit.

Working in my second associates degree through AMU right now. This one is in management with a concentration in human resources.
Anyone else attending or who is an alumni: there is a section in the "quad" for video game discussion. I think this would be a good recruiting outlet.

I'm glad to see so many continuing their education and looking out for their future after the military...good on ya!
I am also at AMU working on a BA in Management with a concentration in retail. School is convenient, regionally accredited and you don't have to buy any crazy expensive books. It is a writing heavy college since it is 100% online. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Other classmates have seriously made me shake my head at time though. I am not very good a writing but DAMN I know how to write and not have it look like a text message. But on the bright side it just makes me look better. I have to drop my October class I signed up for because TA has been canx due to the government shutdown. BASTARDS! I am never voting for someone who has already done two terms! Rant over.

How far have you gotten with your degree Jamie? I have 13 more classes to go for my BA in Criminal Justice. I start another on Sunday... joy.
Same number for me I start my second english class monday. But I did finish my AA in Aviation operations and munition system last week wooo wooo.
I am getting a BA in management.
I recommend the web site ratemyprofessor.com to make sure you don't get one of the random POS AMU professor's.

Im currently enrolled for a AS in Web Publishing and I love it so far, I just started ENGL101 and HIST102 today. The last few courses I've taken I actually saved the information, so if you need help with the following let me know: GEOG101, MATH110, SCIN137.

Yeah definitely I use RMP all the time. It's saved me a few times. I started another class today... I regret it every time haha. Gonna be taking a much needed break after this one though.
@Bretado what is AS bro? Ashford?
I started an English class today too. It's my second one that's required not sure of the number.

btw I'm the same way when I start a new class and say "damn wtf am I doing". It's better to get it out of the way sooner than later though. I should get my AS by the end of May and then plan to transfer to a local University for a BA in business administration. What classes are you currently taking?

The first one was COLL100. ENGL101 should be the one you are taking since it's mandatory. Check it and hopefully we can help each other out!
It's Enlish 102. I plan on taking intro into meteorology next.

Well, personally, I had no interest in the class first off lol. Although I didnt apply myself much it was pretty easy and passed with a B. So to answer your question, it was good! :high5:

ENGL 102 was proficiency in writing right? Either way both the English classes I took were pretty mellow for sure. Honestly the only committed class I took was World History to 1877 or something like that. That shit sucked but only because I had an E-book and the test was a pain in the ass. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing. Are you guys using FAFSA? Since I'm married (single income) with the a kiddo I get a pell grant every 5th week of each class for around 650-700$ of basically free month. I use it to pay for my wife's school but once she's done it will be nice to get a little extra month to handle some business around the house since my wife is not making any money.

@Kant: you got anything that could help me with HIST 102?

I doubt it bro. I can double check but I took that class 2 years ago. Lol back when AMU wasn't even using SAKAI
I haven't even tried FAFSA. Just using tuition assistance.

It is worth looking into. Its free money.
For all of us going to AMU when you complete a class can you post here. Say put class professor and overall opinion. Also any info to make life easier if we take it.

Just finished intro to meteorology. Not a hard class but not easy either. Weather forecasting is as much art as science.

Im finishing up Ethics in Criminal Justice here in about 2 weeks. Then starts my fairly hectic schedule of 2 classes at a time for 6 straight classes... Should be fun.

Just waiting on my second diploma to show up. Conferral date was the 14th.
Did you take the test or write the paper?

This is an associate's degree in management (with a concentration in human resources). There were exams in three of my four classes. The other class was project driven, So I had to turn in a final paper for that one.
This is my second associates with AMU. I received my first in 2011 in database application development. That was also a project driven final.
Overall, I was satisfied with my studies through AMU.

Honestly, its not a brick and mortar school, but I have zero regrets about the school. Extremely flexible and relatively easy course load. I will be 4 classes shy of my Bachelors in Criminal Justice in March after this last barrage of classes I have lined up. Then I am just waiting for TA to reload in October to finish up.
Also, I would look into FAFSA if you haven't. I am a single income household and have 100% TA, but I still get paid 750$ a class to help with any expenses.

Well I know I told a lot of the staff already but I've been grinding out school nonstop for the better part of 4 years (1-2 classes at a time). I am in 2 classes right now in mid terms, after these two are done I will be down to 7 left for my Bachelor's degree. I know I haven't been around much but with school, family and the job I barely have time to game these days lets alone talk about it lol. Either way hopefully once the kids get a little older I hope I can get back to gaming more.
I feel ya I have a final this week in strategic management. Down to ten after this class.
Just finished MKTG 307 with David Bouvin. I recommend you avoid him like the plague! He is not hard but his instructions are nonexistent and he never answers your messages. He was also teaching out of the wrong edition of the book and continued this BS even though I let him know. Still ended up with an A but he is just not worth the ass pain.

I feel you on that on bro... I have had a couple like that. For now I only have 5 classes left until my Bachelors' degree. I will be done by December, I would be done sooner but I'm letting TA pay for it. The light is there... I can see it!
I am dreading statistics! I am gonna take a 16 week course for that. I suck at math and the fact that I hate it doesn't help.

You may want to consider www.mathway.com
Some of the basic elements were very helpful and definitely worth the $7 for me. Lol
I may try that I have a lot of courses left so statistics is last in the list.
