Rumors and speculation have been no stranger to the Assassin’s Creed series since it became clear that surprising players was one of the development team’s main goals. While the setting and events of Assassin’s Creed 3 have been kept under tight wraps, it seems that some close to the project are already whispering. The world of political intrigue and shadowy assasinations on hand for Assassin’s Creed 3 is apparently none other than the American Revolution.http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-3-american-revolution-rumor-dyce-127586/

Combined with this article (http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-3-locations-ubisoft-survey-benk-118384/) discussing a poll released on various timeframes, it would look to be the conflict between the British and Native Americans.

Regardless, can't wait.

I always thought "Grand Theft Horse" would be a stupid but hillarious idea. Then they came out with Red Dead Redemption... And it worked.

I don't care much for the setting but I have a feeling they'll make it work.

It looks like we have an official date:

Ubisoft today confirmed when it will release Assassin's Creed III this fall.

The game will arrive on October 30, 2012, the publisher said. No other details were announced.

"We will push the title a lot because it's a fantastic product that the team has been working for three years," said CEO Yves Guillemot. "What we have seen is just fabulous."

Ubisoft also said it shipped 7 million copies of Assassin's Creed Revelations so far through December 2011.

Nope. It's a continuation of 2, much like Brotherhood was. Though technically speaking, Revelations would be 4.

AC: 1 features the story of Altair.

AC: 2 features the story of Ezio. AC: Brotherhood continues it, and Revelations wraps up both Ezio and Altair's storylines. Leaving the way open for....

AC: 3, featuring the story of......we don't know yet.

don't forget about the PSP exclusive, AC: Bloodlines, which took place after AC:1

so AC:3 will actually be the 6th game in the series. starting to sound like the Street Fighter series, where there are a ton of games but technically they've only just hit Street Fighter 4

It has been confirmed that the U.K. will be getting a special version of Assassin’s Creed Revelations called the Ottoman Edition. This version of AC: Revelations is basically an early “Game of the Year” edition that features all of the current DLC. This special edition will be only available to gamers in the U.K. starting next month.

[Update: Potential (and revealing) Assassin's Creed 3 art may have leaked early!]

It’s been nearly two weeks since we first heard official confirmation that the next battle between the Assassins and Templars, Assassin’s Creed 3 would be released on October 30, 2012. Considering the game was only announced (officially) in February, it’s hard to imagine that the title is only eight months away from release; however, as a result, expect news on the next animus adventure with Desmond Miles to come fast and furious throughout the year – starting as soon as tomorrow, March 1st

http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-3-details-announcement-ubisoft-benk-136016/

Speculation on where and when Assassin’s Creed 3 would be taking place has been growing since it was confirmed that the setting would be new, and today we have the strongest evidence yet. Thanks to a brand new piece of artwork, it seems that the American Revolution will act as the broader historical backdrop, and the new protagonist may in fact be Native American.

http://gamerant.com/assassins-creed-3-cover-rumor-dyce-136116/

When an image purported to be promotional art for the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, rumored to be simply titled Assassin’s Creed 3, leaked online it seemed too good to be true. Not only had we successfully hypothesized that Ubisoft might be taking their assassin franchise to the time period of the American Revolution, but the image itself, which featured a new assassin sporting some Native American weaponry, was downright awesome.

It’s perhaps the biggest announcement the gaming industry has seen this year – and it turns out we already knew it yesterday.

Assassin’s Creed III, a project over three years in the making, will be leaving the rooftops of Renaissance Italy, abandoning the confines of Constantinople, and will dive straight into the thunderous turmoil of the American Revolution.

Word hit the gaming community earlier this week that Ubisoft would be making an official announcement regarding the Assassin’s Creed franchise and at last, our theories and speculation regarding Assassin’s Creed III were affirmed

It’s been a whirlwind 72 hours for fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Following a teaser posting on the official Assassin’s Creed Facebook page that a “major” announcement was en route, leaked box art confirmed what many fans had been hoping – that, as previously rumored, Assassin’s Creed 3 would be set in the American Revolution.

This past week has seen a truly remarkable shift: the gaming world has gone from knowing absolutely nothing about the facts of Assassin’s Creed 3 to having a firm grasp on the setting, characters and new gameplay. Some fans have already speculated to the point of knowing exactly how the trilogy will come to an end, but in case anyone still wasn’t satisfied with that flood of information, Ubisoft is hinting at even more official details coming extremely soon.

SPOILER-Even if the exact plot or fiction of Assassin’s Creed 3 is still a secret that Ubisoft has managed to keep, there are more than a few details that have slipped out ahead of an official announcement. We’ve already talked about the character details and gameplay changes that will be introduced with this title, but there’s more news for those who wish to know a bit more about the settings and new protagonist of Assassin’s Creed 3. Be warned, spoilers lie ahead for gamers who would rather wait for trailers or official details.

Assassin's Creed 3 Rumor: Will AC 3 Feature Four-Player Co-Op?

Will Assassin's Creed 3 feature four-player co-op play? That's the rumor we've been hearing, by way of the game's listing on Xbox.com.

We know a a lot about the single player aspects of the game, thanks to an early release of Assassin's Creed 3 details, Assassin's Creed 3 screenshots, and even the first Assassin's Creed 3 trailer. But there hasn't been any mention of multiplayer for the title. Ubisoft has said in the past that there will be some kind of multiplayer, but are waiting until a later date to make the announcement.

We don't know yet, but if I had to guess, I'd imagine the co-op will be similar to the special co-op game modes in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's multiplayer. I'd seriously, seriously doubt that the main campaign modes could be played in co-op mode, although I guess you never know.

After it was confirmed that Assassin’s Creed 3 would root itself right in the middle of the American Revolution, thoughts of leaping from building to building and exploring colonial America fascinated many fans of the beloved series. Ubsisoft even mentioned that players unfamiliar with the franchise will find Assassin’s Creed 3 an easy entry into the series as the three-game story of Ezio came to a conclusion last year in Revelations. Now, Assassin’s Creed 3 is ready to propel the next hero into the assassin lore.

Though better known for its peripatetic single player experiences spanning the key cities of the Crusades, the Renaissance, and now, with Assassin’s Creed III, the American Revolution, Assassin’s Creed has stealthily developed a strong multiplayer component over the course of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

More Desmond in this outing, according to this article:

Assassin's Creed 3 will have 'more modern day sections than ever before'
Desmond "a big part" of 2012 instalment, says writer
Assassin’s Creed 3 releases October 30, 2012 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

By Andy Robinson for computerandvideogames.com

Assassin's Creed 3 is set to include more modern day Desmond gameplay than any previous series entry, lead writer Matt Turner's revealed.

Ubisoft's previously said it plans to end Creed protagonist Desmond's story before December 2012 - the in-game date when a world-ending catastrophe is due to occur.

But, speaking to CVG at a recent London reveal event, writer Turner wasn't ready to spill any hardcore spoilers:

"All I can say about Desmond's story is you're going to experience more Desmond than you've ever had before," he said. "We're spending more time on the present than we have in past games.

"It's a big part of our story and I don't really want to give too many details away because I want people to experience what that is. But rest assured, you're going to see a lot of Desmond. More so than in any past game."

Assassin's Creed 3 previews went live late last month, and you can read ours through that very link. We also published a pair of video interviews with creative director Alex Hutchinson and senior producer Francois Pelland.

Honestly, the only way I won't be a fan of AC is if they somehow miraculously ruin the second "trilogy" of story. I do have to admit I'm mildly put off by the tomahawk in this one....sure it's cool and all, but I've spent the last several years being completely pulled in by the hidden blade.....a Tomahawk simply can't compete.

I've 100% finished the first two AC's, and Brotherhood pissed me off slightly because while I'm a fan of the multiplayer, I don't have enough time to finish all the MP achievements...which leaves me with a missing 100%. And then Revelations is on hold halfway through because my limited xbox time is being eaten up by MW3. Maybe we should set up some multiplayer time in Brotherhood and Revelations and get a group together to grind out some achievements...

Oh, and a "Deluxe" edition that appears to be PC only, that includes all of the DLC content from all of the CE's, as a digital download.

Pretty impressive, right? Too bad they're all exclusive to Europe/Australia. You'd think after the fiasco that was Revelations, Ubisoft wouldn't be stupid enough to repeat the lack of a tangible collector's edition in the US.....especially given the rather...unique...setting of this particular entry in the AC franchise. I mean, seriously, no CE in America......while playing a game set in America. How stupid can you get?

Well, rumors are that Ubisoft has realized just how stupid this was, and after months of fan whining and complaining, have announced that a Special/Collector's edition will make it's way to the US, though haven't revealed anything since.

Until now. A recent tweet suggests that American assassin's should "be patient" and that a special reveal trailer will be surfacing soon. 3 days from now soon, on a special US holiday that ties directly to the events in which the game takes place. And supposedly, this reveal trailer will include some special information that will appease us Yanks. Which is going to be a rather high bar, given Revelations complete and utter lack, as well as the fact that a game set during the American Revolution requires an exceptional American CE. Which luckily, Ubisofts reps seem to understand:

"In regards to why it is taking us so long to announce what we're going to be offering, there are a couple of factors, one of which is that we know that the setting of AC3 pretty much requires that we deliver a staggeringly amazing Special Edition for North America, so we have been working very hard on meeting that expectation... that said, despite all of our extraordinarily strenuous efforts, it's extremely unlikely that anything resembling an actual Tomahawk will make it into the box. We tried our very best, but rules are rules, hehe."

So while a Tomahawk is apparently out.....this better rock socks.

Assassin's Creed 3 PC delay confirmed, to drop before Christmas
by Jessica Conditt on Jul 12th 2012 8:00PM

The PC version of Assassin's Creed 3 is delayed beyond the October 30 release date scheduled for consoles, Ubisoft creative lead Alex Hutchinson confirmed today at a San Diego Comic-Con panel. The PC iteration is set to launch before Christmas, "near the console launch," Hutchinson said.

This confirms an earlier rumor concerning the obligatory Ubi-PC delay for Assassin's Creed 3.

This is very telling of where future editions may (or may not) go:

Future 'Assassin's Creed' games may not leap ahead
By DERRIK J. LANG | Associated Press – 2 mins 31 secs ago

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The next installment of "Assassin's Creed" may take a trip further back in time.

The upcoming "Assassin's Creed III" trades the stealthy historical series' previous settings of the Crusades and the Renaissance for the American Revolution, but there's no guarantee future installments will be set after Independence Day.

"I don't think we'll necessarily always go forward, or we're dooming ourselves to run out of history," the game's creative director, Alex Hutchinson, told fans at a Comic-Con panel Thursday.

During the presentation, developers from Ubisoft Entertainment demonstrated some time-bending "Assassin's Creed III" gameplay set in an early rendition of Boston. The scenes featured Native American protagonist Connor ascending brick buildings, slipping past redcoats and bashing Scottish brawlers.

Hutchinson told the crowd — many of whom were dressed as hooded protagonists Altair and Ezio — that the developers originally planned for players to be able to scalp enemies as half-Mohawk, half-English assassin Connor, but that feature was later removed.

"When we dug into it deeper, we found it really horrifying," Hutchinson said.

"Assassin's Creed III" is set for release Oct. 30.

It’s called Wolf Pack and supports up to four players as they attempt to track down and assassinate NPCs throughout 25 sequences, in what sounds like a spin on the standard Assassin’s Creed multiplayer.

Even better details of the co-op mode:

Taming The Wolf Pack In Assassin’s Creed III

At Comic Con 2012 we got our hands on Assassin’s Creed III’s new multiplayer mode, Wolf Pack.

The mode plays a bit like an Assassin’s Creed version of Gears of War’s popular Horde mode. Up to four players join forces to hunt down and assassinate a list of characters scattered across a map. Like Assassin’s Creed II’s competitive multiplayer, players will want to blend into the crowds and carefully approach their target without being spotted, but in Wolf Pack players will also want to work together to time their kills in order to get more points and bonus time to continue their killing spree. After completing an assassination, players will be given another target to hunt down.

The mode takes a bit of time to get used to, but skilled players who coordinate with their partner will be able to carry their killing streak on to up to 25 sequences.

Manhunt, Wanted and Artifact Assault will also be returning to Assassin’s Creed III, and the previously announced Domination mode (Ubisoft’s version of King of the Hill) will also be in the final product. Kill or be killed in Assassin’s Creed III on October 30.

Looks a hell of a lot more fun than tower defense Assassin Creed style....but then again I enjoyed that to some degree. So this just looks awesome, lol.

I've played through parts of each of the games and never followed the full storyline cause I'm not into a whole lot of one player games. I've still not beaten Fable III, Fallout 3 or even Metal Gear Solid 3 (weird, seems I lose interest on the third, except MW3 but then again, I've not beaten that campaign either). Anywho, with that being said I'll probably pick this game up because I do like the gameplay, assassins and history (even if it's made up history like Inglorious Basterds). I'm going to be spending a lot of money this year on videogames....

You'll never see it fully close. This one is supposed to give final closure to Desmond, and let them move on to a new protagonist who's ancestors lives we can live through. But the Assassin/Templar battle will continue on until they don't sell.

‘Assassin’s Creed 3′ Achievements Posted Online
Sep 16, 2012 by Brian Sipple

Despite being a month and a half away from release, Assassin’s Creed III’s achievements have already surfaced online. Weighing in at 50 awards (four are denoted as “Secret Acheivements”), the achievements add up to the Microsoft-required 1000 Gamerscore points and, presumably, will correspond in a similar manner to PlayStation Network trophies.

As evidenced by the lasting demand for Metal Gear Solid 4‘s trophy support earlier this year, achievements are a big deal among hardcore gamers and passionate fanbases. Assassin’s Creed 3 releases October 30th, 2012, for Xbox 360 and PS3, November 18th for Wii U, and November 20th for PC.

Seconded.

You know how in every A.C. game there's that period when you first load up between the time you start playing and the time you finally play as the main protagonist? Well, this game has that too. And it's longer than every single other A.C. game. Combined. With a plot twist worthy of the greats.....Empire Strikes Back or Fight Club level twist. It's a total mindfuck, but is awesome to boot. And that's before you even start "officially" playing!!!

Like Nesa said, there's so much to do its nerd-gasmic. Looks to be some serious fun.

I agree! I do love the new way to get income flowing :) There's little bugs here and there, but it's expected with a new development system. I'm sure patches will fix it :) But the MP Wolfpack mode is awesome with friends; because then u could put it on a "hardcore" level, and it becomes more challenging :)

I'm having trouble understanding a lot of the trading aspects of this game. Right now all I can do to make money is hunt and raid treasure chests.

Okay, trading in a nutshell.

Part of the game has you going around finding people to settle on your homestead. Basically, you're the lord....one of the guys actually calls you the lord, it's awesome....and they're all your serfs. You do a quest to get your serfs to join you, generally save their life in some manner, though occassionally all you have to do is give them a little seed money. Afterwards, throughout the sequences that follow, you'll do more quests for them in order to level them up. Anything from breaking up a fight, to herding pigs, to arranging a wedding.

There are two types of people. Gatherers and artisans. Gatherer's....well, they gather as you may have guessed. And each time you raise their level, they gather an extra item or two. In the ledger, under stockpile, there's a list that shows all the gathered items that you can buy and stockpile. Up to 10 of each item they gather.

The other type of homesteader is an artisan. They're the crafters, which incidentally, is the second tab in the ledger. Now, as you open chests and collect almanac pages....and even after a couple of specific memories, you'll gain blueprints/recipes. When you go to the crafting tab, you select a blueprint, and it will show you what items it requires (which come from your stockpile) as well as what artisan you need, and what level he needs to be at. One thing to be careful of.....your first 2 craftings cost you 25 pounds. After that, the price goes up by 25 pounds per craft...so 50/75/100/etc. This resets, and is in place to keep you from finding one pricey item and making a couple hundred of them.

So now that you have stockpiled items and crafted items, you need to trade them......which is the third tab on the ledger. What you do then is select a convoy. You can build up to 3 land and (I believe) 3 sea convoy's. When you select your convoy, you choose what item to place in it, then where you want it to go. Pay attention to your tax/risk factors, as those will tell you how much you'll make. Also make sure to check all your potential purchasers. Some shops will pay more for certain items than others. You can upgrade to up to 6 slots per convoy, and each slot is taken up by ONE (1) item. So if you have 4 bear pelts....that's 4 slots. 4 ship masts....4 slots. 4 bottles of milk....4 slots. And 4 piles of lumber...yep, 4 slots. Size matters not.

When trading items, you'll almost always get some form of return on investment....unless you build a dozen of one item and pay out the nose for it. Which would be stupid. Anyway, simply buying and then reselling items from your gatherer's nets you a small payout. Crafting items and selling those nets you a slightly larger payout, and selling the stuff you hunt can net you a huge payout. At least, trading bear pelts, for me, was quite lucrative. It all depends on who you're sending your convoy to. One guy will give you a couple of pounds more than what you spent on it....another may double your money.

One thing to keep an eye on. There will always be some small risk of your convoy's being attacked. You can do privateer missions to lower sea route risks, and attack/take over forts to lower land risk...but it's always there. If one of your convoys is attacked, you have a time limit to get to it before it's destroyed. So make sure you quick travel as close as possible.

On another note, AC3 allows you to liberate sector's of the city. Same concept as AC: B and AC: R, in that sections of the city are under Templar influence, and you have to do various missions to remove this influence....replacing it with Assassin influence. Doing so in this case requires a half dozen or so minor missions, and one major mission. At the culmination of which, you'll receive an Assassin recruit. While it's one of the things that's not as good as AC: B and R, holding LB will bring up the Assassin Guild interface, allowing you to send your recruits out on missions which will gain your recruits experience, and you money and trade goods. At first, it'll take all three of them to complete a mission, but as they level up, it takes less and less, which means you're running multiple missions at once. All of which make you money.

Hunting proved quite lucrative for me as well....I'll literally spend almost an hour just hunting...then I'll find a peddler and sell it....I have yet to do more than the main sea missions, because I just happen to suck at the boat steering lol, but I tend to pick up assassination contracts, call my peeps to kill em and get them xp to send them out on missions...
I do miss the whole thing in ACR that had you defending against templar takeovers...I actually loved that...but we'll wait and see with the remaining dlc scheduled to come out...I'm going to seriously avoid giving spoilers tonight, but rave about this game on tonight's podcast.....my husband has been addicted to it as well, and so i try to get all my playtime in during his work hours :P
Good thing is, is that school doesn't start for me again until after Christmas, so I can get my fix in while I can :P
But the new aspects are so fitting for this game....it could have made sense to get an income "rebuilding" shops and what not after the war, but this is fitting for "frontier life" :)

Yeah, the moving collectible is a bit annoying at first.

Found another thing to get annoyed over, though. I'm used to there being enough viewpoints to uncover the entire map. But the Boston ones only revealed like 75-80%. And the Frontier ones not even 50%. Which leaves you to run around uncovering the map and trying to find map locations. Annoying.

Thank you sir. I'm getting there little by little. I'm at sequence 6 and I'm just doing the Naval missions right now looking for Capt. Kidds treasure, pure awesome...

As I saw people talking about the annoying aspects of the game, there's another. After the epilogue missions you search NY, Boston, and the Frontier for "pivots". Considering how large these maps are, and the limited quick travel locations, it becomes a real pain.

What I'm curious of though is what it means by syncing the animus to the cloud. >_>

Aren't pivots just player placed items that you triangulate on? Haven't gotten that far yet. Still on Sequence 8.

You start out with three pivots, two already in place and one in hand. From there pivots "spawn" randomly and you have to use the ones you have for triangulation. After you collect a total of five I suggest leaving one in a hard to reach place (away from a fast travel location), and somewhere a NPC cannot reach them, because if a NPC runs over one of your pivots it is "found and returned". I found that out the hard way, placing a pivot in the middle of the road in the middle of the frontier. There seems to be an option to speed up the spawn rate, but I wasn't able to figure that out. By the time I got all the ones in the cities the rest spawned in the frontier. I played bocci with George Washington while they were spawning.

No spoilers!! Not done, but they've said multiple times that Desmond's story is done after this. So Assassin's Creed 4 will have a new person looking at the history of their family.

Revelations was fun, but it didn't have much to do with the First Civilization, or Desmond....beyond his clips with Cliff to get his mind back. It was mostly a culmination of both Ezio and Altair's stories, basically wrapping up their lives. There's a couple of references to it, but they're mostly minor. So if you want more Desmond, it's really not that great. It simply shows him getting his mind back and arriving in New York. If you want more Ezio/Altair, or more assassin goodness, it's pretty awesome.

Depends on who's following you. Some people can't climb up buildings. Unless they're an assassin, I'd assume they're not able to do so, and stick to the streets.

Same as Steel. There aren't any of the Subject 16 puzzles like previous games, but there are still plenty of collectibles and freerun puzzle zones. Overall an excellent game.

My biggest problem with it is Ubisoft's massively fragmented exclusives, and their PS3 bias.

No more Connor?

Assassin's Creed's Connor, Who Was The Worst, Is Done For

Nothing typified the regression the Assassin's Creed series took between Revelations and III more than the game's star. We went from Ezio, a lovable, charismatic rogue, to Connor, who was...nothing. He was nothingness in a white hood.P

Sucking much of the life out of the franchise with his solemn frown and humour deficiency, the series has swiftly moved on without him, the only people seemingly caring to remember being cosplayers and a crowd on Tumblr who immortalise him with fanart and fanfiction.1P

So it's hilarious to most, and upsetting to that minority, that in a Reddit AMA (http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1pz0j2/iama_developer_on_assassins_creed_iv_black_flag/cd7hesj) earlier today, lead writer Darby McDevitt responded to the question "How likely is it that Connor's story will be continued in another game in the future?" with:P

"Not very. We want Tumblr to pick up where we left off.

Now, that's funny. It shows public self-awareness from a major developer, which is a rare treat. It also shows that, as weird as it can sometimes get, the people responsible for creating the character have been keeping tabs on stuff like this. And this (http://cccrystalclear.tumblr.com/post/66176690248/hes-thinking-about-you-ladies). And this (http://fitzefitcher.tumblr.com/post/66145065324/i-drew-a-baby-bear-for-kohai-chan-in-her-time-of).P

It's also a line McDevitt circled back around to, explaining Ubisoft's motivations (and forward planning) in detail:P

Firstly, though my answer was terse, I am not being snide when I say I am eager to see how fans continue our characters' stories in other outlets and mediums. Tumblr and live journal and dozens of other sites provide perfect outlets for AC fans to continue the stories of their favorite characters. I absolutely love this process. I love the fact that people have discovered resonant topics and characters in our universe. I love the fact that fans can expand or elaborate on points they feel have not been well addressed. This should happen as often as possible. Take what we begin and make it your own. Remix and remake. This leads to wonderful things.

That being said, it would be wrong to imagine that anyone is "brushing Connor off" ... we planned the Edward, Haytham, Connor saga more than 2 years ago, long before any of you had heard Connor's name or learned his backstory. We had no idea how he (or Haytham) would be received, but we had our own long story to tell, and we embraced it. And it was our hope that — taken together — this saga would represent the story of a family... a migration, a mixing of cultures, and a dashing of ideals... Connor played his part, Haytham played his, and now Edward has had his say too. The fact that Connor's story feels incomplete to you is unfortunate (and likely made worse by the cut dialog people found), but this only means there is more room for your imaginations to take over.

Don't rely on us to deliver new content... make your own stories. Finally, there is ALWAYS room for interesting things to happen in the AC universe. We are open to many ideas. But it's also important to realize that we make critical decisions YEARS before they come to fruition... which means we cannot usually respond immediately to fan reactions. This is why petitions aren't terribly useful... we're on a completely different schedule. But we are eager to see what you do with our characters... the stories you tell, the places you go. That's why we do this. Thanks for your reply, Zoe.

Nevertheless...that first line of his was a doozie, and if you feel like a laugh at the expense of mildly crazy Assassin's Creed fanboys/fangirls devastated at the news, this Tumblr tag (http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/connor-kenway) has some fairly emotional stuff on it right now.
