I'm in the market for a Laptop (finally) and could use some input because asking people in stores has already proved useless

I'm not looking for a powerhouse gaming machine, just a damn computer because i have none. The kicker is i'm looking for one that can accept hdmi INPUT, i repeat INPUT, and also not going to break the bank. today alone i walked into several stores and got many different responses, even within the same store; one person would say they flat out don't make computers that do that (lol i know for a fact they do), others would say only the $2k Alienware computer does it (wasn't completely lying there, the beast alienware laptop had input and output, but only after me physically showing them it does), then one guy tried to tell me most of the laptops there had hdmi inputs (had a small discussion explaining the difference between input and output with him)

so what say ye, anyone know where i can find something with an hdmi input that isn't an expensive gaming beast machine? If i could stay between the 300-500 price range that would be awesome but not sure that's gonna happen

I don't know where you would find one with HDMI input, but the best value in a laptop I've found is Dell outlet - they have factory refurbished computers for significantly less than their retail - sometimes almost 50% off. Since they're refurbished, most components have been tested twice, and no one I know has had a problem with an outlet machine.

My wife has a HP that fits your bill. check in to that.

I would recommend a Dell, Dell makes good stuff.

HDMI input will be hard to find.

I looked around more today and in the end i've come to the conclusion that HDMI input is still few and far between with hefty price tags so i'm just going to have to hold off on that idea for a while and figure something else out in the meantime. I have an 19" lcd so i can take that on the road with me to hook up the PS3 for now i suppose. My laptop temporary solution is a low priced toshiba just to hold me off until i buy something bigger and better after which i'll give this one to my brother or something. I bought the display model and talked them down from 329 (would have been 379 if it weren't a display model apparently) to 299 and had them throw in a carry bag so i'm feeling satisfied. 4gigs of ram, 2.20ghz processor, 500gig hdd, $300? good enough for now :)
