I have my 8 -10 road trips for my Semi pro football coming up starting in a couple of weeks. I have a blackberry and plan to upgrade in May, but I have a son who is 4, but a whiz on electronics and I used to tether or hot spot my old phone to get tablets online, but cant seem to get the blackberry to do it. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion or idea of a cool way to get internet in my car. and I know I can but the Verizon mobile hot spot if all else fails.

I want to in the future have my xbox pr ps3 in there and we game locally, like you see on the pimped out ride shows

I don't think blackberries have a mobile hotspot (but the last BB I owned was the Curve 8330). If you have a BB Playbook, then you can use their blackberry bridge to share the connection, but that's it. Android devices have a mobile hotspot app, but it costs a tethering fee and has a monthly limit. If you root your android phone, you can use third-party apps or you can use an unrooted phone to share the connection wired with a computer.

Any Android version 2.0 (gingerbread) and newer, has tethering and mobile hot spot built into the phone itself, No apps needed. The phone usually needs to be rooted, as you can imagine the carriers lock this feature down. Reason number 36483629 to root your device. Free tether and mobile hotspots ftw!

To answer your question, the mobile hotspot works great in the car depending on the carriers coverage in the area. In the case of your blackberry, you might need to go ahead with the Verizon hotspot.

Yeah that's what I was thinking the hotspot until I get a new phone will have to do it. Still debating since here in montana there are still stretches of no coverages.

Right, if you want to do those things without rooting, you have to use an app.
