Any Body know anything about Audi's?

ive been on my wife's ass bout trading in her Gas Guzzling Beast.. paid off 2006 Ford Expedition.. great truck love it to death untill your at the gas pump... so out of the blue.. she tells me she's ready and in less then two days she's bought a used Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet.. very nice car and she took it to a friend of the family who is a mechanic and couldn't believe what they where asking .. the car was garage keep... mint condition.. and then she proceeded to talk the dealer down another 5k.. which i think was they were asking 5k over what they should have.. since it gots some mile but everything is mint... anything i might need to know down the road.. ive never owned a Audi??

Audi's are great cars to have. They are very reliable and last for a very long time. They (meaning manufacture and people who own this brand of car) say the break period for Audi's are around the 200k mark. Remember this, every 40k miles you need to get your timing belt adjusted. Why, cause if you don't the car can go out of tune. Cylinders could miss fire and the over all power will decrease. Being she a mini sports car. Anyway, what I'm trying to imply is that in order to adjust your timing belt, you're going to have to completely remove the motor from the engine compartment. Which will run you a couple thousand $$$$$. Instead of having a belt like most cars where the cost of replacing and adjusting would run about 2-5 hundo. Audi's and VW's have a chain and is way more difficult to get it adjusted. You may end up having to take it to the dealership. It's better overall but costly when getting it adjusted. Only reason why I know is because my buddy has a Audi A4 turbo. Bitch is fast but runs him a bunch of money.

I've heard the same thing. Almost all luxury cars seem to have poor reliability with the exception of Lexus and some others here and there. I would check consumer reports' annual car buying guide...they normally have a good breakdown of what goes wrong on what cars.

My mom owned one for the last 6 years, and absolutely loved it. Regular maintenance is a must, but it was well built and very reliable. No problems whatsoever.

My boss has leased two audi's in the past, an A4 and A6. As much as he like the comfort and drive of them, he has vowed to never have another one. He had numerous problems with both of them. Obviously, he had a bad run of luck though. :rolleyes:

I've had mine for 4 years. No problems. Love it. Definetly get your scheduled maintenance in though. They are precision instruments and need to be treated as such
