At the end of the day on Monday, one Morgantown man will have ran 34 miles in one day.

However, that's nothing compared to what he'll face over the span of the next 100 days, as he runs 3,400 miles across the country.

Jamie Summerlin spent time in the marines and he's says he was blessed to make it out alright. Now he's running to make sure injured service members get the help they need.

He says he's had the idea to do something like this for years and Monday he kicked off his journey in Oregon, his wife's home state.

Summerlin wants to be back in Annapolis, Maryland on July 4th. In order to complete the run on time he'll have to run an average of 34 miles a day.

He says he was nervous when he started Monday morning, but he's had support from others, who will join him for short periods of time.

Summerlin also keeps this cause close to his heart which he says will help him on the days he wants to quit.

"I've put the training in and I've got the motivation behind me to do it for the right reasons," Summerlin says. "Nobody wants to step up and run across America just because they want to. I've got a lot of motivation behind this and to honor our Vets in a big way."

If you would like to help with the cause, you can do so by clicking here (http://www.runforwwp.com/). On that site you can also track his daily progress.

I heard that. Not that I'm in any kind of shape to even fathom running beyond a couple of laps around the high school track, but I can tell you that PT doesn't get any easier the older you get. And I don't care what kind of shape you're in, father time comes to get you sooner or later.

That aside, you gotta give props to this guy. That's some serious dedication!

That old saying "Time heals all wounds" is bullshit haha... more like time creates brittle bones... Each morning I feel a little less spry and feel myself starting to ache. The military definitely beats up the body for sure and I got to the gym almost everyday. Thankfully there's people out there like this guy who can do these sort of feats. I'm just not gifted in the running department lol

That's freaking awesome. If I had a set of wheels on me to do so I would. Congrats to him if he succeeds. :D
