I came across this article and I found it funny so I thought I would post it. Even after my epic match.com fail, I wouldn't turn to WoW for dating. lol This is just way too geeky and a little unbelieveable. What happended to meeting people the old fashioned way?

That's funny. I remember people trying to pick other people in Pirates of the Caribbean Online. They base your looks on the pirate avatar you design. Was so stupid really. I'd have guy pirates come up and whisper "baby you're hot. Wanna be my girlfriend?". I would crack up and imagine some 10 year old on the other end. And the guys liked to play girl pirates (cause of the nice butt wiggle they had so I was told) and they would get offended when a guy pirate would be suggestive to them. I'm like "for all you know it could be a girl behind that guy pirate". There were weddings and all kinds of silly nonsense. Then Disney started censoring and it got pretty lame to play it.

I know of a case that started as game dating and ended in a happy marriage.

Keep in mind folks that these are real people and real friendships do form. I know many real friendships have formed here in our own forum and through consoles (not romantic ones of course, but real nonetheless). So these people took it up a notch. Who are we to judge?

But yea, the absurd silliness of pick up lines in pirates kept me playing it a couple years because it was so funny. I love games that amuse me.

I played a iphone game for a bit and even made quite a bit of money ($4000 or so I think) off of making and building accounts... that game had some creepy relationships in it...but no pirate butt wiggle.... I shudder to imagine that lol:cupcake:

I played WoW for more years then I care to admit and the connections you make can be very real. Of all the couples that got together first in game and perhaps later in person...I only know of one that is still together. They are both in the mid 30's so maybe that is the reason? Either way, they met playing DDO, moved to WoW and now play SWTOR together. I think they are the exception to the rule though.
