Ya it's not very common but ive seen some stories... There's a local place where I live that fixes it for like $75 or something.... But I heard it isn't permanent.
I can fix it... but I'm just not in the mood to be bothered right now.

So I've heard brother. So I've heard. You need a break...badly.
So I've heard brother. So I've heard. You need a break...badly. It's a simple 2 hour process, but I just don't have it in me at the moment. I'll start it sometime this week or next.
I'm gonna be back in the saddle soon, see you then.

Really, I didn't know this was a feature of PS3 either.
I had to keep a back up Xbox for just the occasion and I never purchased an xbox without the two year extended insurance contract from BestBuy.

Well yeah, it sucks but every system has it's flaws.... this particular flaw has screwed me twice now.

My PS3 used to sound like an airplane taking off from almost overheating and the fan working overtime. Then I bought a usb powered laptop targus laptop fan and it seems to have solved that problem.

Same here. There was a closeout store nearby that had them for less than 10 bucks. That's what mine sits on. Plus I make sure to run a vacuum hose over it once a week, especially around the vents.

my old launch 60gig got to that point too, where it sounded like a harrier in vertical takeoff. opening it up periodically and using an air compressor to clean it out helped prolong the life but it ended up dying eventually, less than a year ago. lasted a pretty long time though considering i got it used to begin with. Haven't had any heating or loud fan issues with my slim version yet, and i got it when the slims first came out.

I got the RROD when mine was struck by lightning. Forunately I got a network error code and it was still undetermined warranty. Microsoft fixed it and I've been good to go ever since.
