I believe you can catch the PTSD. I know a few joes who never did shit but magically caught the "disorder". It's what the cool kids are doing now...

I listened to a SGM say that a bunch of recruiters that have been doing recruiting permently before the war was thought of have PTSD because of the shitty ass leadership that use to exist around it and the stress that came from it

My favorite thing is when someone finds out I am in the Navy they say something like "Oh, my neighbor Joe Smith went in the Navy....do you know him?". I tell them unfortunately I am a loner and only know 15 of the 45 people in the Navy.

Yeah the, "have you ever killed anyone" comment always pisses me off. Maybe I have and maybe I haven't but its none of your fucking business and that question is a good way to get your ass kicked.

My favorite reply to that is always, "Well, the day is young."

I used to get that shit all time. I still get questions today when someone asks me where my last duty stations was. Out of the some hundreds of thousands of soldiers stationed there, I would know that one person he or she knows....hahaha! They fail to realize how big / small of a military we have. Big for them but small for us...weird

This was funny and I agree with some of the past comments... Sometimes I laugh when someone asks a question like these, they give me dirty looks afterwards... Unfortunately they are not always this nice; when I got back from my first tour, we were greeted with people protesting the war, calling baby killers and such. So take the good when it comes because not everyone is cool with us and what we do.

this is grand, first off I have never been comfortable with the thank you for your service saying, the other shit i usually say, by me a drink and let me tell you about it. Now PTSD is not viral but jarheadism is, caught the wife dropping the boy for 10 and then she said 1 more for mother corps. When someone ask if I killed someone I shrug my shoulders then they ask how it feel or how can you do it, I then say it easy I just think of someone asking me a stupid question and pull the trigger (now that shuts them the F**k up)

Comment "I didn't join the military but went camping so thats something like the military." I remember a civilian try to compare the eagle scouts and the marines during a history class in college doing this exact shit. He got his ass beat afterwards but I was laughing my ass off during class though.

As an eagle scout, I can attest that it is nothing alike...though depending on what you did, you could learn some valuable skills.

A fellow Eagle. The only time being an Eagle Scout directly helped me for an extended period of time was Survival School. I am sure it has had alot of little influences over the years though...like when we had to make a tent city in Nov 01. As a flyer that is not really something we were taught but having a basic knowledge of it from scouts did give me a head start. I guess what I am trying to say is it is usefull but not alike at all.

Some of the shit in Basic was pretty cake-walk because of being an Eagle Scout. First aid, road marches, eating shitty food. Oh, and I was banned from helping anyone else during land nav.

As for the crazy shit that civilians say, my most memorable was being accused of being an Afghani baby-killer. During my tour of Iraq, where we were helping build schools. Yeah, good times.

Ok, time for a little venting...and at the risk of preaching to the choir, here goes...last night some of us were playing Dom in MW3, not a full 6, we lost a match and afterward some douche nozzle started going off about what a poor representation of our military we are etc., then on to 9/11 conspiracies, we don't know what we're fighting for general bullshit. Now I am not good at handling these people on the spot...I go from zero to offering plane tickets for the ass whooping of yer life in about 2 seconds...yet I digress. My point is don't they realize that to the individual warrior in hostile environment, politics play no part. It is simply a matter of kill or be killed, destroy or be destroyed, period.Furthermore, the professional warrior has nothing to do with choosing enemies, only an oath to stand ready and close with said enemy. Do these people think that without a professional standing military, that their on so protected, precious way of life would remain intact very long? To all my brothers and sisters in arms, thank you for answering the call regardless of personal political views...you are all truly Warriors and Americans....and Englishmen (love ya 2Pac.no homo)...........please excuse any typos, it is very dark in Angels luggage.

sucks you had to deal with that. Its ok to vent in my opinion. I had some kids say something like that I said, go sign up and see if you can do better. I offer to fly to see them or give them a ticket too. Seems video game skill is all they have and youtube news reels to teach them politics. I had someone tell me obama is why we attacked Iraq. I got up and moved to the other end of the room they followed and soon after my buddy had to escort him out before I killed him.

I can level with you on that but then I just realize that 99% of those dickbags are either Hippies or people who couldn't cut it in the military to begin with. The only people who should bitch about our military is our enemies cause we kill the shit out of them.

I understand what you're going through. I have those similar situations every now and then on MWF too. The biggest reason why they are sooooo butthurt is because he got his ass stomped and the only way to release the anger from inside him is to go about the type of bashing he could do. They call it internet muscles. Anyway, he or someone he knows that is close to him has a family member that has served and if he were caught saying the crap he did to you with the person who serves next to him, he would be in the fetal position crying for his mommy. Point to be taken, ignore it, make fun of him back, and press on. If it makes you feel better, go to every lobby he's in and keep throwing ass whoopins on him. Oh and tell him every time you bash him in game, that they way you are beating him would be the way you would beat him if he where to say those kind words to your face. I hope I didn't offend anyone with what I wrote. Or, you could report him for foul mouthing and he may suffer some penalties.

No joke this kid (18ish) walks into cold stone when some of my buddies and I are getting icecream on our lunch break, in uniform. He says, "hows it going?" to us from behind to which we turn around to see if he's talking to us, as we do we see he is and reply, "oh, good. how are you?" To which he goes to attention and salutes and says, "I'm great sir". I turn around in disbelief and try not to laugh as this kid, probably drugged out, turns back around to the menu on the wall and starts talking to it.

Great day.
