So... Today I got a talking too about how I just walked out at the end of
the duty day and didn't let anyone know. Some people had to stay late
because of our Capt upset how the day went in other areas, besides the point
that nothing was accomplished during the extra time. If you are unaware
some bases are "paperwork" happy and this is definitely one of them, I
didn't get any because I think they thought it was weak in the first place
but I got some bad looks... This made me think, I have been TDY for more
time than I have been home station and while I am not at home station things
are more, laid back, not in the lack of security and discipline, but to me
less micro-managing. Does anyone else find this to be true or am I just
fortunate to have douches at home and cool people TDY??? The
micro-managing, I know is everywhere, but I think this career field requires
much more than I want, which is why I am looking into AFOSI. Let me know
what you guys think cause this schtuff is getting ridiculous for me.

Micromanagers suck. I think you're just unlucky - don't think people are 'always' cooler on TDY. I wanted to put in for OSI, but I would lose my pilot slot if I applied so I'm not going to.

It's just like being deployed (being on TDY but with a lot more stress). I would rather be deployed than deal with the B.S garrison life has to offer.

Its a different kind of stress. I work the flight line which involves ALOT of bullshit and getting stabbed in the back and no one watching each others backs. Not saying its harder just more of a mental stress than some jobs. I can relate Bond... I haven't gotten paperwork in years but I get frequent "talking-tos"

I always felt this way. During my deployments it was all about flying unless it was your crew's week for mission planning. Everyone was focused on the things needed to keep us safely in the air and that's it. Get back home and after your R&R people flipped. Suddenly airmen were getting talked to about everything and vast amounts of paperwork get created to do the same thing we did overseas with minimal paperwork/resources. Some of this stuff is required and gets skipped during deployments because of ops tempo and waivers...but a lot of it is just useless. I think it's so they have things to put on EPR's/OPR's. The nice thing though was once you are on the plane everything became streamlined with each person doing their job. Little to no micro managing on board.

I will say Army gets treated a lot less "well" than we do, but trust me I have slept in my share of holes throughout my career... Push comes to shove we all have to deal with shit one day or another, take and appreciate the good days when they come by.
