Obviously it's a ways off, but we'll see what comes of it. BTW, I realize the original date of this story is old, but I believe it was overlooked at the time it was originally written/posted.

Personally....I'm still holding out hope for Bad Company 3.


‘Battlefield 4′ Confirmed by EA President
Speaking during a USC keynote, Electronic Arts President Frank Gibeau offhandedly confirmed that there will be a ‘Battlefield 4.’ Let the speculation begin.

In a move that is sure to surprise absolutely nobody, Electronic Arts President Frank Gibeau has confirmed that there will be a Battlefield 4. Speaking during a USC keynote, Gibeau simply said this year’s iteration will receive a numbered sequel, and that was it.

While this isn’t much to go on, given that Modern Warfare 3 just released it has to be a strategic move on EA’s part to let this little bit of information slip. Though, based on MW3 sales projections, Battlefield 3 might not have made the dent that gamers were anticipating it did start things off on the right foot.

The game sold extremely well, building off some solid pre-order numbers, so it’s an obvious decision to move forward with a sequel. Even Medal of Honor, which was way less of a success is getting another chance, so this much more popular franchise probably started getting the sequel talk a long time ago. Still, it’s good to hear someone like Gibeau say the words out loud.

Now if developer DICE can get the singleplayer elements right, retain the appeal of the multiplayer, perhaps with some graphical improvements that mirror the PC version (64 players please), Battlefield 4 could be a solid contender once again. That isn’t to say Battlefield 3 was a disappointment on all fronts, it just simply wasn’t the complete package that many were hoping it to be.

And then there comes the question of whether or not Battlefield 4 will be a current generation or a next generation title. Since Battlefield is not being touted as a annual release – although the Bad Company offshoot could fill in those gaps – most would prefer to see DICE and EA hold off to get the console graphics on a similar playing field.

At lot can be said for what the developer was able to do with the consoles — the game still looks pretty stunning — but ultimately there are some rooms for improvement, and moving to a new console could upset that progression. Regardless, we’re excited for whatever Battlefield product is in the pipeline next, whether it’s Battlefield 4 for the consoles/PC or Battlefield 4 for the Xbox 720/PS4.

Honestly, I'm nowhere near ready for a sequel. I'm still loving the game, unlocking new things - haven't even tried half the weapons, and am looking forward to the DLCs. I'll most likely get it when its released, but BF3 is more than enough for the next several months and maybe years.

TO EVERYONE WHO IS HAVING ISSUES DOWNLOADING THE BETA

I have a way to do it

It's very simple and works 100% of the time

This requires changing your system locale to UK. If you have qualms about that I assure you this doesn't change anything except the dashboard pages
*Note: Must have Pre-Ordered Battlefield 4 or Battlefield 4 Premium, own Battlefield 3 Premium, or be a registered owner of MOHW to have access to the Exclusive Beta

1. Go to console settings and click on language and locale
2. Go to Locale and change it to UK
3. Sign out of your profile
*Note: You will be signed out of Xbox live. You will still have access to Xbox Live.
4. Go to the Games tab
5. Click on the Battlefield 4 tile
6. Once you're on the Battlefield screen DO NOT click on anything
7. Sign back into your Xbox Live profile
8. Click on the Beta tile and download
9. ????
10. Profit

There you go everyone! Enjoy your brand new Battlefield 4 Beta

So i just started playing the BF4 beta and so far ok . Graphics don't look much different then BF3 maybe because its a beta. I will be getting it for the PS4. i'm hoping for a much different experience graphically and maybe game play. Anyone going to be on tonight ?

You don't have the HD texture packs you have on the actual game. That's why it doesn't look as good.

I enjoyed it for about an hour or two total between exploring, trying out new controls and features, and conquest. After that went back to BF3. I need variety.

You are tooooo much Bro.... I love it....You are the best, u take something horrible ( government shut down ) and make it fuuuunny as HELL....Thanks.... Did u notice the elevators work and also the shutters in the downstairs area by the clothes shop. They actually open and close so does the shutter style front door. Pretty cool if u are posted up like if they play rush on that map cause no one can move up behind or beside you. Did notice the building animation and the actual world animations were a lot better this time.

Interesting to note that if you are in the skyscraper when it falls, you are insta-killed. I hope the fix it so you aren't killed until something actually hits you.

I think I had more fun tooling around exploring the map and trying out the new weapons/kits/vehicles than I did actually engaging the enemy to win. It's interesting for sure. I wonder if I'll like all the maps as much as I like this one. I hope so.

Ditto for me. We ran across some other players last night that must have thought they were in a prize tournament or something as hard as they were playing. I'm just trying to familiarize myself with the controls and equipment for now.

Yeah I didn't stress when I wasn't doing well since it all goes away! I'm probably done with the beta though, gonna play around with BF3 to get used to PC controls more.

I just want to let you guys know that I'm have mic issues with my PX5's. My wire that connects my headset to my 360 controller has gone missing. If I join any party chats I won't be able to talk but I'll still be able to follow orders in BF4. I should be getting a new one soon.

Okay so a short-term fix for PC guys on the campaign. If on Battlelog, it shows you not up yo what you know you've completed, you'll probably get a dialog that says "local and cloud saves do not match".

DO NOT pick the cloud save, even though it's probably newer. Pick the local save, and you should be where you left off. I did this and I avoided replaying a level.
