Wastebook 2011

Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn put together a manifesto, that is refered to as Wastebook 2011 which compiles the top 100 ways that the U.S. government wastes taxpayer money.

WOW! I read about the first 14 of these and just shook my head.

Looking at some of the crazy things people can get grants for, it makes me wonder if we could get a grant for USMG. LOL.

Seriously though, #4 is the one that caught my eye. Our local airport received that same subsidy one year, and in order for them to get it the next year they had to have so many passengers travel through it in order to meet that goal. I don't recall the exact number, but late in the year, they offered free flights over our town to anyone who wanted them during one particular weekend, and counted those passengers against their required numbers.
