"Thwart the Marvel Super Villains in this New Free-to-Play Marvel Action MMO"
SAN MATEO, Calif. – May 22, 2012 –Gazillion Entertainment, a leading developer, publisher and operator of massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, has revealed the first glimpse of the eagerly anticipated free-to-play online game Marvel Heroes. Taking the MMO category to a completely new level of excitement and engagement, Marvel Heroes combines the energy of action role-playing games with the breadth and immersion of the MMO genre.

Drawing upon the 8,000-plus heroes and villains in the Marvel Universe, Marvel Heroes allows players to become their favorite Marvel Super Heroes – from the popular Iron Man, Thor, Storm and Black Widow to the lesser known Squirrel Girl and Cable. Fans will be able to completely customize their characters by constructing costumes taken from each hero’s rich history, choosing from a huge array of super powers for each character, and finding thousands of other items. There are countless ways for players to tailor their experience.

In the game’s social areas, including Midtown Manhattan and the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, players can meet up with other players, discover missions, and buy items from legendary Marvel characters. While pursuing missions, players will explore such famous Marvel landscapes as the Savage Land, Hell’s Kitchen and Mutant Town.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis, author of Ultimate Spider-Man, New Avengers, Secret Invasion and countless other successes, Marvel Heroes is inspired by some of the most popular tales and events in Marvel Comics history.

David Brevik, President of Gazillion Entertainment and creator of the massive hit games Diablo and Diablo II says: “I’ve been a big Marvel fan for all of my life. Marvel Heroes represents the combination of Marvel IP with all of the knowledge and experience I gained creating Diablo. It is a dream come true. I’m excited to unveil Marvel Heroes and share this revolutionary MMO with both gamers and Marvel fans.”

“Marvel Heroes marks a new era in gaming for us,” stated TQ Jefferson, Vice President of Games at Marvel. “For fans to actually become their favorite heroes in an original storyline, explore iconic Marvel landscapes and combat some of the most dangerous villains in a shared experience is unbelievably compelling.”

If it gives you the option to be both heroes and villians, I'm fairly sure it'll smoke DCUO.

hmmm...so basically DC Universe in a top down perspective with more characters I'm actually familiar with. I'll give it a shot for sure :)

Sent from the muddy banks of the Wishkahnope lol, in marvel you get no character customization... you just pick a hero or villains and play it. meaning you'll see 50,000+, wolverines running around in open world lol. DCUO lets you play as booth too, this thing is just a weak attempt cash grab at best on marvel's part.

Except for that part where they do let you customize both powers and costumes......second paragraph.

With over 8,000 options to work with, the potential to be unique is absolutely there.......and even better is the option to actually be your favorite superhero, instead of some lame "not quite close enough" version.

As it looks now, it's no more a weak cash grab than DCUO was. And potentially, it could be much, much more.

Sent from the muddy banks of the Wishkah nope, because no matter how you change the outfits or the powers... it's still wolverine lol. and that still makes it weak lol.

I liked the idea of being a soldier in the GL Corp in DCUO. I'm not a fan of actually BEING my fav hero....still could be worth a look though

Not even remotely. You may not like it, and more power to you, but given the massive amount of characters in DCUO, CO, COH, and COV that are basically attempts to duplicate an existing superhero, it's pretty obvious that there is interest in the idea.

And at the end of the day, I'd much rather be a customized Iron Man, Hulk, Deadpool, or Human Torch than a customized generic power suit copy of Iron Man, generic monster/Hulk duplicate, generic martial artist, or guy with flame powers.

For that matter, how is 10000 wolverines different than having 10000 guys who all have "generic base power x?"

Sent from the muddy banks of the Wishkah Nope you got it twisted, what's generic is your customized Iron man, hulk, human torch. because their just that, generic... they look like every other player. no thought, no originality, no nothing, just the same character model in a different outfit lol. Being an original, one off character that you made from the ground up... is far better than a rinse and repeat wolverine with bishop powers lol.

For that matter, how is 10000 wolverines different than having 10000 guys who all have "generic base power x?" they may have the same power, but there are different trees of specialization in that power that makes it different(meaning that no two people, have the same power set loadout). plus the stats that go into it, that make you better than the next guy.

How will they look the same when we've been told you'll be able to change the look? For that matter, do we know that there won't be body type modifiers?

And in this instance, I'll have to disagree.......because you're not making a unique, one-off character. You're making the exact same clone of a character. The biggest difference, is that instead of generic base powers, they tell you the superhero those base powers were duplicated from.

they may have the same power, but there are different trees of specialization in that power that makes it different(meaning that no two people, have the same power set loadout). plus the stats that go into it, that make you better than the next guy.

And even though we've been told outright that they're going to include power customization, you know for a fact that no such customization, skill branching, or stat modifiers will exist?

While I admit outright that I'm mildly optimistic about them including this level of customization......though given it's basically the exact same system used in pretty much every Superhero based MMO..........claiming that every character in the game is going to consist of a bunch of reskinned models of the exact same thing is a bit beyond pessimism.

And the reason I think this will do better than DCUO..........Marvel is far, far more mainstream than DC, and it's launching as free-to-play right off the gate. Which means even skeptics of your level have a better than even chance of at least trying it out. And odds are, at least some of them will spend something on it.

The biggest difference, is that instead of generic base powers, they tell you the superhero those base powers were duplicated from. They do the same thing in dcuo. when it comes to telling you, where the powers come from and from who... so they are not really Generic. the only generic thing in dcuo, are the body types really.

And even though we've been told outright that they're going to include power customization, you know for a fact that no such customization, skill branching, or stat modifiers will exist Marvel has a history of bad games behind it, so I'm going off of what I know based of those games.

I heard it from the developers and saw it in their game play demo, so it isn't really pessimistic... it's what they are doing
