View Full Version : Deployment
I am going on my first deployment after 5 in a half years of service in the Air Force to Qatar for 4 months! I have a wife of 2 years and she is taking it a little hard. Was wondering if anyone had any tips/tricks and expertise to pass a long to me to let her know that everything is going to be just fine. Thank you!

Qatar, only 4 months (damn air force) everything will be just fine. Just spend plenty of time with your family before you leave.

A 4 month deployment to Qatar is pretty cake it could be 7 months in Afghan... that shit sucked even then AF deployments are different lol... just have Skype and make sure you take sunscreen, get some school done and go to the gym. Make use of your time.

Enjoy my friend! Had a buddy of mine who was out there on the civilian side. Said it was cake
Yes I do here that Qatar is a pretty easy deployment. I believe that they are going to have me forward deploying a lot to which is going to be a lot of fun. Plus I am re-enlisting over there and get a nice bonus which will be tax free!!

Qatar is a safe place, well established facilities...and it's only a few months and not a grunt deployment. Get Skype, like they all said! And don't get fat in the DFACs!
Hey it Could be the Stan....f that shit!

Plus you get hostile fire pay and family sep i believe... trust me the Deed isn't bad lol it even has a sweet pool
SPARTAAAAAAAAAA!
Dang it has a pool too? I plan on just working and working out there because I heard that the Deid has pretty good work out facilities. I am hoping that when I come back I can take a fight within a couple of months of coming back. I never worked with skype. I just have to go online and create an account or something?

I don't recall hostile fire pay in Qatar. But what the hell it could have changed over the past two years. Skype is great. You can also pick up a burner phone there on the cheap or if you have an unlocked cell phone just get a local sim card. What AFSC are you?

I will look into the burner phone thing, depending on how much they are I might get one. I am a Survival Specialist out at fairchild.

You can pick up a phone, a sim card, and about 600 minutes for around $120

I remember the two days I spent in Qatar on my way back from Balad. That place is so nice. Actually, Balad wasn't bad either. Gotta love the Air Force!
