updated status!

so i got word back from my CO and i could be transferring to the USANATO brigade, BUT i have to switch to active or reserves to do that. being apart of USANATO was really what i wanted to accomplish while being in the army BUT i don't think I'm ready to switch on over to active. i guess id be apart of the AFSOUTH BN, NATO Rapid Deployable Corps (NRDC) as a 35P10 (Cryptologic Linguist) stationed in Istanbul, Turkey. so i need some advice and some info about active, like how is it? i know well about active duty but i want to hear it from those who actually are in it. :help:

Wait....what? You're NG and have orders to AD or Reserves.....? How does that work....total different animals...are you going to be an mob augment? AR? Or just augmenting services all together....?

The NATO command you mentioned is a support role, mostly peace time crap. Spread all over Europe....their duties are akin to CAGs and integration training with TCNs.

As for AD, it's a job....a career, a pension....gotta grow up at some point....didnt you attend boot and MOS school? It's like that....but longer and repetitive.....

And what's with the fruit salad but only mosquito wings?

Im not being ordered to change, im being given that option, so i have to decide whether i want to or not. I was going to switch to active component around november anyways. Id have to fill out a "request for conditional release" if i wanted to. I posted this so i can get advice, is that too much to ask for?
