I will be doing a data dump of gouge for what I know about EVE with regards to fittings and skill sets. These ideas are debatable and tweeks are welcomed. Its info that I have compiled over the few years I have been playing.

I will address this too. Im at work right now and will be home tomorrow some time in the noon.

Basically; Commies are usually used for anti-frigate picket duty....and as pure salvage ships. Remember thats destros are a feeder for interdictors. You generally want to close with a frigate fast and engage him before he gets to hit optimals....for this, they are usually fitted with 75mm or 125mm rails and a damage control, shield extenders, or SEBOs and afterburners. MWDs are generally NOT used by most first line ships for it greatly increases your signature causing you to be locked faster.

Merlins, play to its advantage. Shield booster, mag stab, dam cont, APU, 75mm rails

Ill more specific tomorrow

That was pretty good for not being specific.

For researching other people's fits.

MERLIN
The idea behind this ship is to think "Assault." It is the feeder ship for Assault frigates and needs to be closely fitted as such for the same role, get in close to your target and pound away. It gets boosts to its weapons and shield boosting, so fit for that. This ship is a brawler, a street fighter, get in close and keep them busy with punishing blows, which is the reason it should be fitted with Blasters in PvP and Rails in PVE, also use scamblers, they are short range but have 2 points which is ideal for tackling and pining down your target. Jammer are more suited for inteceptor type hulls. You can take the fits from battleclinic and mod them to what you can use, ie...tech 1 and tech 2 gear....if you cant use t2 then use the best t1 you can get your hands on...all gear is not the same, look at their attributes, and fitting data...can you fit it? CPU and power use...etc etc. Then also there are rigs...be careful about these when you are new. They act as bonuses and many have negative effects, but that can be mitigated with skills, bottom line is that one needs to be cautious because new players do not have the skill points or skill sets established just yet.

Cormorant
This destroyer hull is pretty good to run low level PVE missions in. I do not recommend this hull for PvP....they are inferior to Thrasers an Coercers. Its pretty straight forward here...the job of the destroyer is picket duty and taking on frigates. Do not multi-task with ships...pick a function and stick with it! At the first sight of trouble...warp off!
