As all who know. Once you reach level 70 (and I think this is right around the time you become a Colonel or Lt. Gen) in any prestige, it takes a ton of XP to go from from one level to another. Shit, I can rank a prestige up fast as hell in the beginning of the prestige but it starts to take a while when you reach mid point in the prestige

Illegal to own and able to use are very different. Guns will probably never be 'outlawed' in the US, but if they could some politicians would essentially restrict all weapons but very simple hunting/historical weapons that have little to no use for self-defense.

Note that the preceding summary says that you have to have a license and be "registered" in order to keep a handgun in your own home. You have to provide proof that you need to carry a handgun in order to legally have it anywhere else.

I read a blog post about a month ago from a guy who was flying domestically with a gun, in a locked container, properly registered and checked with the airline, had a stopover in NYC. I don't remember if he had to switch airports or what exactly caused the situation, but he had to retrieve his weapon and check it in somewhere else in order to continue on his way. (Note that there is a federal law that overrides all state laws when travelling inter-state that specifically allows for carrying firearms with proper precautions.) The NYPD confiscated his weapon and wrote him a citation. When he went back for the hearing, the case was dismissed, but the NYPD refused to return his illegally confiscated property.

NYC has some of the most prohibitive gun laws in the country. The only place that I think might actually be worse is DC.

Or what their laws do and don't allow me to do. And then even more research to determine whether their laws are enforced as written, or more loosely, or more strictly, based on some dipwad's political agenda.

I'm an 8-year veteran of the RA. I am this country's militia. I'm both trained and experienced in the proper handling, maintenance, and use of a variety of firearms, up to and including shoulder-fired missiles. At one time I held a TS/CI security clearance. My fingerprints are on file in so many places I can't even remember them all. I'm not allowed to travel internationally without permission from the State Department for the rest of my life. I am a walking, talking target of opportunity for any one of a number of terrorist organizations from all over the world. I have a concealed carry permit in the state of GA, and I can't even legally drive from GA to Boston with a properly stored weapon in the trunk of my car because I'd have to go through New York or Canada to do so.

Do you not see the lack of common sense here?

I realize that, but i had to go and I didn't have time to look up other sources. For specific reference, I never use Wikipedia but for general reference, it's pretty good (and I have read on these issues on more reliable sites). They've done studies showing that non-controversial pieces on Wikipedia generally are pretty accurate (the existence of a particular law is not controversial, even while the effects might be).

The original intent of my comment was not to start an argument, rather, it was to point out that NYC has unfriendly gun laws that only exist in a handful of other places in the U.S., and that those laws made it difficult to defend yourself and that that made crime more prevalent.

First off, I wasn't trying to argue with anybody. I was only stating facts of the gun laws in NYC. I was not saying in any way that I thing gun control is good. Now, do you think this is more likely to happen in Buford, GA, or NYC, or DC. Did you know that there have been more than a dozen attempted bombings in NYC since 9/11. My bet is you didn't know that. I wasn't passing judgement on you or your views. And I agree that plenty of incidents happen with guns (IMO you can label any of the mass shootings a 'terrorist attack'). Maybe everyone just needs to back off from this topic for a little while. Okay, before continuing this off-topic sojourn......how exactly would some gangster shithead shooting a cop be affected by any state's current gun laws? Whether or not some citizen, who may or may not even know how to handle the gun he's packing, has a gun on him, it's not going to change the guy who's purposely going after someone who he knows has a gun.....and the training to actually use it. Sorry, but the idea that "fewer cops would be shot if more people could carry guns" is just.....well, stupid.


Also, just to point out.....the Georgia Weapons Carry License, required to carry a weapon in the state of Georgia, is a license. That is required if you carry a weapon, concealed or open. And while I agree that Concealed Carry Permits should be federally mandated, not state mandated, and should be considered legal in all States.......Georgia doesn't recognize my concealed carry permit. Which means I can, and likely would, be arrested for carrying in Georgia. Kinda sucks, doesn't it. Apparently Georgia isn't that much better to outsiders.

I am from Texas and live in Montana. I have a few good new york friends and I think that it is a great place. They have a bullseye on that place and people still keep going and live there everyday. The people hate the corruption and bs, they act tough but when they befriend you they really are a friend. I like the gun rule they have cause so many people transient thru there and there are so many people there. I live in and am from 2 states that have super gun rules for the gun owner, but I have had guns pulled on me by idiots who can't shoot shit and luckily I could disarm. i know criminals have guns, but I choose to not be one of them. I have used a pen to top a gunman so Unless it's a real firefight or zombies, I just need a bic. Wow which way is this paragraph going. Only things I hate about the state one ny. You do have the option of obtaining an out-of-state Florida licence, which is recognized by Ga. So it is significantly better than NY. And while you can't say a specific crime would have been stopped had there been lax gun laws, studies have shown a very significant correlation between the institution of more relaxed handgun laws and a decrease in violent crime.

The problem with that is criminals will have guns no matter the laws, while law-abiding citizens will obey the law and be without guns if the laws prohibit them.

I said that. I had a few guns and only don't these days cause I love Glocks and sig's and I don't like locking them although its safer. And my son is a gun loving 4 yr old who I take to the sportsman store to play with the weapons and dry fire weapons with the old hunters hanging out there. So for his safety from my laziness and weapons I got rid of everything. Paid for a new flat screen and ps3 and a nice mountain bike haha.

Three things
1 NY has the worst laws as in the state its self and yes you can get arrested at JFK when they pull you aside in a secure area after they ask you to open your secured firearm case
2 I believe both Florida and Arizona permits covers game
3 here in my state its almost as bad as NY they passed a law where in 2014 all long gun HAVE to be registered the same manner as a handgun and you can have automatics or detachable magazines machine guns or shoulder fired firearms .50 or greater plus no dd's and also magazines over 10 rounds for anything is illegal to buy and a nusiance to possess I can keep going but this subject won't go further unless its in its own thread haha so no more thread jacking ^^ :D:D:D:D
