I had the urge to look at Sim City again, and then I saw the news: it will require an internet connection to play even "offline". WTF? So I just started reading up some more on Always-on DRM just because, you know, I was bored and I read this article, which was one of the best I've ever read on the subject. So I decided to share it here:

Xbox live absolutely isn't a requirement for console gaming. I really doubt PSN is either, as my sister has been playing her PS3 offline since she got it. I don't play as many PC games as these people do, but I think that quickly glossed over part about having a brand new computer and a newly reformatted computer did a lot more to hamper their gaming than DRM did.

Oh, and ME3 doesn't require an internet connection. Unless you're playing multiplayer.



Edit. If they really couldn't find anything at E3 this year that isn't multiplayer focused......they weren't looking.

True, and it's not a big problem at the moment. There's only the couple games that have the problems, but that's the direction it's heading. Their situation was mostly caused by new stuff, but it's a snapshot of what's coming. As it is, I won't be buying Sim City even though I love the older titles - actually I'll probably go get another copy of Sim City 4 since I gave my older copy to my little brothers.
